What is everyone driving? (1 Viewer)

I'm bringing the wife home to be with the kids but I also need to get a new set of wheels on a budget. My old 98 Civic is ready for a new owner. Looking to pay less than 10k for a sedan style 2007 or newer. Anyone one love or hate their cars? Ford Fusion? Newer Civic or Accord?

Buy a Nissan Maxima.

Best 4 door sports car ever made for the value.

I have owned 3 for a combined 20 years. My first one was a 1990 which I put 265K miles on. My second was a 1992 I found on a Nissan car lot (for my wife) in 1998 with only 20K miles and stole it for 8K. Put 125K on that one. In 2000 I finally let go of my 1990 and bought a brand new 2000 SE loaded. Put 113K on that one then was able to sell it for 4K and leased a loaded 2011 SV with all the toys. Turned that in last summer for a 2013 SV with all the options as well (no more buying new cars…I just lease them as I drive less than 15K a year).

Incredible reliability, comfort, power……the works. Find a good used one and you will be happy. Gas milage is not the best…I average around 22.5 MPG city/highway. Just highway it does give me 28MPG.

But remember it is a 6 cylinder. So your getting great power and a smooth quiet cabin.

Treat yourself. I am sure you can find a 2000-2002 in your price range. Maybe even a newer one in your price range (2003-2008)

I had a couple of Maximas. Great car.

I had a 99 manual which was the smoothest ride I've ever been in. Unbelievable car that I had until 190k.

forget that buy an american made muscle car of the sixties vintage preferable a mopar that you can rev up and have all the papershakers checking you out in you will thank me later take that to the bank brohan

I like my 2009 Toyota corolla xrs. I don't like it in heavy traffic since its a 5 speed but its paid for so I plan on driving that for awhile. Cant go wrong with Toyotas or Hondas I think...

I have my 96 Camry. Smooth ride, decent power, extremely reliable, good in snow and the mountains. 220K on it right now. Still rides as good as it did 12 years ago when I bought it. I figure I'll keep it another 5 years as my daily driver. So I think a newer Camry is something to consider too.

2007 Pontiac Vibe, I valued lakefront living with a house on the lake over what car I drive- that's just me

2012 Honda Civic here. I love it.

Fwiw, used cars have gotten pretty expensive over the past few years. New cars are actually a better value these days.

But yeah, once you have car, you should drive it for a loooooong time.

2013 Fusion. I really like it, has all the bells and whistles for a nice price. The Sync system has occasional hiccups, but it is nice to be able to stream Spotify or Podcasts with ease and control it all with the car panel. I lease but if I was an owner, my concern would be that every control is digital, there are no analog buttons or knobs and I don't know how well it will hold up over time.

2007 Honda Civic is my work car. I'll drive it until it costs more to maintain it than it is worth. Of course that's what I basically do with all my vehicles. Wife's car is a 2010 Nissan Altima. Love that car. Nice mix of size versus features versus gas mileage.

2005 Honda Odyssey Touring. 3 kids so we need a van. Bought it used in 07, it now has 130k on it (mostly highway). We take care of it as well as we can, taking it to a Honda dealer for all services. Hoping it will last as long as it can. Part of me would love to update it, but the other part loves not having a car payment!!!

2003 Toyota Tacoma 4 door, but my ride of choice is my 1988 Jeep Wrangler......of course I have a whopping 2 mile commute to work.

2007 RAV-4. Getting something new that is comparable in the next year.

2011 VW Jetta TDI

Much prefer having a diesel to a hybrid. I get 47mi/gal on my commute which is nearly all freeway and the car is 140hp with good torque.

14 Flex - Great kid carrier.

14 Focus - Wanted a cheap car, performance etc. was secondary. I've been pleasantly surprised with the way it drives. Definitely like it a lot more than I thought I would.

14 Fusion Hybrid. Good fuel economy, small trunk.

Ordering a 2015 Expedition in a couple weeks.
That's going to be a rough adjustment on fuel economy. Yikes.

Just ordered a 14 Expedition to replace my Flex for a while. It'll be perfect for camping season.

Sold my 2008 BMW 335 and bought a 2014 Kia Optima. It may sound insane but other than the lack of horsepower I feel like I upgraded. It's a very nice car. 5 year/ 60k base warranty plus 10 year/ 100k powertrain makes me sleep well at night compared to the numerous issues the BMW had that were killing my budget.

2000 Honda Accord (bought it new; 190k on it; drive about 10k a year on it now)

2003 Chevy Avalanche (bought it 4 years ago; 94k on it; drive about 4k a year on it now)

2008 Volkswagen Jetta for two reasons:

1. It's a great car.

2. I'm comfortable with my sexuality.

Really liked our '99 Civic. Only reason we sold it was our family no longer fit into it. Even then I was considering keeping it and driving the SUV less.

But now I drive a 2007 Highlander which just went over 100,000 miles and runs great. Pretty sure we'll get another 100k out of it.

2008 Mercedes E550 - Good balance between power (382/391) and comfort. Getting close to pulling the trigger on the E63 for the added HP (507/465)

2005 bmw 330ci convertible. Love the car, the drive, everything about it except when people bit** that the back seats are too small. Love driving around at night with the top down and stars out.
