What is going on with the Jets? (1 Viewer)

Why can't this team just keep their mouth shut? Ship Antonio Pierce over to them as well, he loves to talk talk talk to the media.

Jenkins- IR

Leon- IR

CB's # 2 and 3- injured since week 2 (although they are back now)

Rookie QB

Cotchery- essentially was out for a month

Braylon- came in middle of the season

Rookie coach that is having to adjust for the first time.

I think that about covers it. This will be a much better team next year, assuming Jenkins can come back and they get 1 or 2 contributors out of the draft.

Season Ticket Holder.

Other than the Buffalo game (which was still close so kept you there), the games have been very entertaining and close. Certainly, the team does not click on all cylinders, yet still there are good, positive intervals throughout.

Rookie coach, rookie QB, both still "developing". Didn't really much expect a playoff caliber team this year. Losing 2 of their 5 most valuable players (Jenkins, Leon) hasn't helped.

Random variables influence the outcome of close football games more than any of us care to admit (especially those that make a living inside or analyzing the game).

While I don't like the long sprint back to my car and then the 2 hour drive home after a loss more than the next guy I am still getting good entertainment value and emotional charges during these 3 hours that are tough to duplicate elsewhere in my day to day life.

Glass half-full.

At the start of the season I told myself that with a rookie HC and QB I should b happy with 8-8 or 7-9 - fast start brought on higher expectations but at the end of the day they have a rookie HC and B - Atlanta and Balt were abberations last year not the norm....after losng arguably their best players on each side of the ball I would be happy with 8-8 at this point.

Rex is an emotional guy - his mouth and emotions get the best of him - hopefully he'll learn a lot from this year.

Namath's "Deal w/ the Devil" strikes again ;)

Seriously, these guys just need to pipe down and play. Hard to call it from just a season, but Rex is going down the trail of his dad, and look at all those trophies Buddy Ball brought to Philly. Win the battle, lose the war...

Some strange things going on with the Jets . . .

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/morn...jets/index.html

"Jets coach Rex Ryan revealed to The Post yesterday that in the wake of his team's disastrous 24-22 loss to the Jaguars, he plans on reaching out for advice to more than a few people outside the organization, including his father, Buddy Ryan, Brian Billick, Jack Del Rio, Marvin Lewis . . . and former Jets and Giants coach Bill Parcells. "It's not like Bill Belichick's gonna talk to me," Ryan said. "Parcells may. I may put a call out to him. I know a lot of guys in this business".

A lot of people credited the early run by Denver to McDaniels asking for and accepting help and opinions from other people in how to deal with various things going on. I think he mostly reached out to people within the organization but I recall something about him talking to various people aroudn the league as well.Ryan might be realizing he needs some other input than what he has. Someone might see something or have an opinion that Ryan hasn't seen before. Sometimes it takes a wise man to admit he needs help.

Or he might just be way over his head and cracking. That's always possible.

Jets fan here.

Rookie coach and Rookie QB. That sums it up.

Rex is an emotional guy and I love it. Even if we finish 8-8, the team has a different (welcomed) attitude. They are gonna focus on their defense in the offseason and watch the offense gel. I'm expecting big jumps in 2010 for the Jets.
