What is the best FREE website? (1 Viewer)

I currently play in a FF league on cbssportsline and we pay $120 for the website. I have played on yahoo, but after cbssportsline I don't feel you can change that many league settings. I'm thinking of starting another league requiring less money. What is the best option out there that doesn't have an annual fee?

Just starting a league and using fanball. Seems really good. Lots of options, easy to use/cutomize. They are advertising a new improved Live Scoring feature as well....... Pleased so far.... ($60)

Is it $60 for everyone on the website to have live scoring? I know on yahoo its like $10 per person for live scoring.

do a search for threads in the last few days with yahoo in th subject. there's a thread that talks mainly about yahoo, but mentions other free as well - at least i know aol was mentioned.

AOL is second to none. :pics:
Gotta agree with Big Tex. My league used AOL's Commissioner service last year. Totally free. Exact same product as Fanball Commissioner, but Fanball charges something like $60. The only difference is the tech support is kind of lame, but you can go on the Fanball website and find most of the info you need. A guy posted on these boards last year about the AOL site, he was the product manager. I e-mailed him directly a few times and he was very responsive.

One other thing - all the extras you have to pay for on Fanball - like their insider stuff, was free on AOL.

The league is fully customizable (just like Fanball Commissioner).

Last year I sent an e-mail to fanball to ask what the difference was between AOL and Fanball, and they responded back saying the real time scoring was better on fanball, as was the tech support. But, our real time scoring worked very well, and was very fast.

One thing people fear with using an aol league is aol spam. I didn't get any.

Edited to add that I'm pretty sure the aol guy's FBG user name was bigalgreek. I did find his aol contact info: "Alex Joannou" <joannouas@aol.com>

I'm sure he can answer any questions.

And NO, I don't work for AOL, I don't use AOL for internet access or for anything besides free fantasy football. I was hesitant at first, but it worked great.

I did not like AOL at all. I thought the site was very confusing and not user freindly. Also, my live draft crashed 2 or 3 times and that was pretty annoying. One person recommended this site last year and I think I might try it this year... it only costs $25.link

I tried AOL last year also. I will agree that it was bit confusing to get it all set up, and we did have a few bugs. But, it was FREE, and had FREE live scoring. I can put up with the other stuff for the price. I have leagues on AOL and Yahoo, and I will switch them all to AOL. Assuming they are free and Yahoo makes you pay for live scoring, of course.

AOL League Manager is by far the best free site period. Live scoring, divisions, double headers, etc. etc. All for free..

It stumbled the first week or 2 just like all the other sites..then it was pretty smooth sailing..

I'm using it again this year for sure....

AOL was great except for the draft. Our draft was just a few days before the season started due to schedules of everyone involved. It was pretty much a nightmare. The draft locked/crashed several times. A few times the timer would freeze and then suddenly be halfway counted down on the next person after autopicking for a team.

But it worked great during the actual season. Nice free live scoring, good uptime and very customizable. I will say that some of the settings were a little confusing to setup though. I created a problem with our waiver wire because I had it setup differently than what I intended and from what I had told other people it was setup as. It created a bad situation. But that was partly my fault for getting confused with all of the options and not really an inherent problem with the site.

I had two leagues on AOL and was happy with both of them. Both of them will be staying at AOL this season.

Perhaps an offline draft that you upload is the best idea though. Or making sure that you get your draft in early enough that if something goes wrong you can reschedule it.

I had a free startup dynasty last year first with Foxsports/MSN - YUCK. So many problems in August along I moved the league to AOL. Pretty darn good but it was not user-friendly. So as commissioner, I took it upon myself to move the league to MFL this year. I paid for it myself ($70) and could not be happier. Totally customizable, easy to navigate, and great support. We'll see how many of my owners make a goodwill dontion for the cost...

I use Yahoo in a redraft every year - it's ok.

not real sure about free but MFL.com and xpersports.com are very good and fairly priced sites and the only I would ever recommend.
