What is the worst way you have lost a matchup in your ff career? (1 Viewer)

This has to be the worst way to lose in the history of FF I lost my game this week because on the last play of Week #1 Jamarcus Russel Throws a hailmary pass that the chargers intercept with no time on the clock. At that pt i was up by 1.7pts the int gave my opponent 2 pt cause he had chargers def/spt causing me to lose by .3 That is damn horrible!!!

I have lost before on garbage plays on the last play of MNF before, a last second completion that cost my defense a point and gave his QB a couple points. But my most memorable is needing 20 points and only a kicker going, and then getting 7 FG's from him.

That's nothing. How about losing because of Rivers' kneel down for -1 rush after the Russell INT. Stuff happens all the time, not much you can do about it.

:football:

I think I repress or forget these things within a year. But last season, I know I would've won in the playoffs if Owen Daniels scored against Green Bay instead of fumbling at the 1. That wouldn't have been terrible for me as a Packers fan but they couldn't even win the damn game.

One time I was clinging to a 0.3 point lead on the last play of the MNF game, and my QB Carson Palmer completed an 11-yard pass to my opponent's Chad Johnson on the last play of the game, which flipped the score to him winning by 0.25.

:football:

This did not happen to me, but I know several people who lost on the play when Westbrook stopped at the one yard line on purpose. I will be surprised if anyone can top that one.

I lost by one point when Heath Miller caught an 87 year TD pass in the 4th quarter...even though he stepped out at the 2 yard line. Play was not reviewed because Nick Saban only managed to get the red flag 2 yards onto the field in one of the more pathetic throws of any kind that I have ever seen...and the refs didn't see the flag in time to stop the play.

:blackdot: That play affected tons of leagues.......but it was a really smart, unselfish play by Westbrook.I knew someone that lost due to Hochuli's blown call last year in DEN.

Lost superbowl by .25 points when my QB scores 0 points that week.

Lost key matchup...was down 2 points going into MNF and my opponent had no one and I had Westie. Westie was a last minute scratch and it was too late grab a player off the waiver wire.

I once lost because the players I started did not score as many points as the players my opponent started.

Crazy hobby!

this is my way to top it... I had Westbrook and even when he kneeled down at the 1, I still was up by 4 pts.. Had the playoff matchup won.. Well my opponent had McNabb.. when McNabb kneeled down 3 times in a row to end the game, those kneel downs counted as rushes, which got him to 7 rushes which qualified him in our league for avg yds per carry... He had 1 big 20+ yd run early in the game.. Because he qualified for avg yds per rush, my opponent got 5pts and beat me by a pt... So I got beaten by McNabbs kneel downs.....

When I won my semifinal game in a PPR league by less than a point and Hines Ward had a catch taken away on the following Thursday.

I am a die-hard Bills fan.

Last night, I went into a FF match-up, my score: 96.5 , his score: 112.5

I had Randy Moss, He had New England D/ST

I took the lead in the 3rd Quarter.

Then........... Leodis McKelvin, fumbles that damn Kick-Off that he should have never took out of the endzone.

The points from the fumble put the other guy ahead to win.

The same play that made the Bills lose, was the same play that made my FF team lose, and by a point in BOTH!

I am bitter this morning.

Same thing here, fumble recovery by kicker put opponent over the top.In another league I was Delhommed, and he wasn't even on my team.

A couple years back going into a MNF game late in the season, I am up by 8 with my opponent out of players and me with my kicker, Robbie Gould. Only Robbie Gould and time between me and the playoffs. Gould goes on to miss 4 (4!!!!!) FG's @ -3 pts per, I lose, miss the playoffs. To make matters worse I had high score for the playoffs and championship. I maintain to this day if I ever see Gould in person I will kick him square in the junk.

D. Jackson spiking the ball at the one yard line costing his TD and McNabb's followed by a rushing TD from Westy's TD for an opponent was a double ouch for some.

Last year, in the first round of the FF playoffs, I would have won if P Manning had completed one fewer pass OR J Cutler had completed one more. As it turns out, I finished out of the money and would have won it all in subsequent weeks. A grand $ and a half <sigh>.

How about Bills vs. Cowboys classic game, at least i think it was the Bills. Nick Folk kicks a field goal and I still win by tiny margin, but NO they get a penalty and back up the kick for a longer kick and Folk makes it and I lose by .1.

This might top them all.

Years ago, a friend went in to MNF tied....he had Eddie George (stud) left and his opponent was done. Eddie fumbled on his first carry and was injured and didn't return. Guy lost by 2.

I was up this week by about 15 points going into Monday night with Nate Kaeding and Leodis McKelvin and my opponent had Tom Brady and Terrell Owens. After the Patriots scored with 2 minutes left, I was still up by a point and it looked like I would easily pull out the victory as long as the Bills could run out the clock. Then, Leodis McKelvin fumbles the kickoff return (losing me 2 points) and Tom Brady scores (giving him 7 points). Of course, Kaeding was only able to give me 7 points, so I lost by a point thanks to McKelvin's fumble.

You lost the moment that stupid rule was created.

I once went into Monday Night down by only 0.5. My opponent had nobody playing. I had Jeff Reed. Easy win, right? Wrong.

The Jags shutout the Steelers that night. Zippy points for not only the Steelers, but zippy points for good ol' Jeff Reed.

Leading by 9.7 points at the very end of MNF (or maybe it was SNF). Opponent only has a kicker left.

Idiot kicker boots a 50+ yd FG (+5 pts) at the gun to send the game into OT, then *another* 50+ yd FG to win in OT. I lose by 0.3.

One time my opponent was losing to me by one point going into Monday Night Football. I had zero players left to play, he had Jeremiah Trotter. Before the game, Trotter got into a fist fight with DeAngelo Hall and was ejected from the game. I won, but that's a tough way to lose. Way worse and more unlikely than a hail mary pass.

Won on MNF a few years ago when Manning took a deep knee to center the ball (minus 1 for my opponent) which made it a 40+yd FG for Vandy (4pts instead of 3) and won by 1.

I was up by three touchdowns with less than three minutes to go on MNF. The game had moved to garbage time, and then tt all started to unravel.

Every game I lose is the worst one. It doesn't matter if one opponent player had a fluke play, or my entire team sucked.

A loss is a loss.

Lost in a playoff game because of a tie. Even though I had the better season record. The tie breaking rules by Yahoo stated the team with the most TDs during that game wins. I got more of my points off yards verses TDs. I'm pretty sure I would have won it all that year.

I knew someone who was up 4 pts going in a MNF game....his opponent was done and he had Rex Grossman in a #2QB slot.....back when Grossman was putting up some good numbers. He threw for only 125 yards, no TDs, 4 picks, and lost a fumble, for -7 points......he lost by 3.

Monday night 2006, Bears vs Cards, Leinart at QB, Egghead at RB. I'm up 3 TD's and change and he has the Bears D.

Here's a refresher:

Hester takes one to the house, Egghead feeds them a TD, Leinart feeds them a TD in the meltdown all in the last Q and a half.

Loss.

Mouth open looking at the screen and the stupid ### Denny Green.

If your opponent is done and you're ahead with guys left to play, you bench them pregame, every time. Unless league rules required it, this one's all his fault.

Played in the SB in like 2004 or 2005. My two backup QB's get injured after the trade/WW deadline. I only have McNabb week 16 and the Iggles have the playoffs locked up and play the Rams. DMac plays a single drive and is to the bench. Scored me like 6 (60 yards and a TD - 3 points per passing TD) and I lost 94-92. One more drive for McNabb and I probably win...

That was the one for me last year! I was up by 5 with McNabb and pulling away when DeSean decided to showboat and my divisional apponent had Westy and won by 1. This one play stopped me from making the playoffs

Not sure about that one. Lots of leagues use total points for something and how often do players actually score negative points?

Not to be a stickler, but I'm a pretty avid Bears fan and couldn't remember a time where Gould would have done this in his career, which has been pretty short so far. So I went ahead and checked up on it, and not only has Robbie Gould never missed 4 field goals in a game, he's only missed 2 field goals in a single game once, and that game he also kicked 6 of 6 XP's. Seems like you must have mixed something up here.

That was the "They are who we thought they are" game.I forget Rexy's numbers but I know I was losing by 10.81, something like that. Each turnover was -2, offset by some amount of positive yardage. The really sick thing is the dude was still hanging on by like 0.06 points, and the last few kneel downs put me over the top.

I got a friggin' novella from my opponent in my email box the next day in excruciating detail.

ETA: just remembered - if somebody can find and post the play-by-play game log...was this 2005?...there was something quirky about the last kneel down, like they needed a couple extra seconds off, and IIRC Grossman danced around before taking a knee. So it ended up being a (-4) play instead of the typical (-2), and that was the difference in our matchup.

Gould has never missed more than 1 kick in a game in his career so this post is total BS. Never even 2 misses in a game let alone 4. Nice made up story though.

I won a game once because of Westy not taking the TD and falling down on the 1 yard line for the team.

I lost a game once because of a stat correction by Yahoo a day after the game was played.
