What kickers are in your Championship game (1 Viewer)

Longwell (Bironas) vs Kaeding

Akers (Scobee) vs Gostkowski/Prater

Akers (Rackers) vs Nedney/Scobee

Reed (suisham) vs Gostkowski

Tynes vs Gostkowski (Carney)

Kaeding vs Tynes/Bironas

I can check more if you want

Is the theory that kickers don't matter that much?

Bironas, Kaeding, and Tynes are the only ones in my 3 leagues that I can recall off the top of my head. Can't access my fantasy management sites at work.

ETA: the others are Goskowski (x2), Akers

That's a lot of Nate Kaeding already.

One thing I noticed is a lot of owners don't pay attention during the season. They'll draft a kicker thinking they don't matter, but never adjust. So, they'll run the 20th ranked kicker out there every week even though there's someone better sitting there as a free agent.

The same thing happens with defenses at times.

I don't understand that mindset.

It is actually the opposite. I'm trying to prove that kickers do matter. A stud kicker may be the best indicator of success. I'll be doing some heavy statistical analysis over the next three or four days to see if there are indeed any fantasy implications to my theory.

In-laws coming in town, eh?

Good thing you don't work for Fidelity

Akers (me) vs. Kaeding

This is the first time I can recall ever NOT picking up a second kicker (except to cover the bye week). Akers was absolute money this year.

Well, I answered the "QBs in your championship" question, so why not....

Kaeding (me) vs. Graham

Crosby vs. Feely

I'm obsessively careful about DST matchups, but I tend to meet your description a little with kickers. This year, Nick Folk was KILLING me down the stretch and was a big part of me not winning the high points award at week 13 (which is a $1200 payout). Painful. I'm rolling with Hartley, but I'm considering: 1. Reed vs BAL2. SF kicker vs DET3. Kris Brown vs MIAI just don't trust my judgment with these damned kickers!!

Kaeding v Tynes
Me too, for now, though I might swap out Kaeding if the Tenn. weather picks up and put in Hartley instead, been carrying two kickers for the playoffs just in case. Of course, my only QB is Peyton, so I might get burned there instead.

Me neither. I swap out PK and DT in most leagues almost every week based on matchups, and my points at those positions are usually among the league leaders.Right or wrong, in most of my leagues we can still work the WW even during playoffs, so in one of my title games my PK is not yet set (WW is tonight). In the other, where the WW has been closed for awhile, I'm starting -- yup -- Kaeding. Opponent has Tynes.

Unless you can land a Kaeding/Akers/Tynes type kicker, I think playing the wire is the way to go. Even Tynes and Akers can be potentially dangerous late in the season depending on weather. But having a kicker like Kaeding is a very nice luxury to have.

I drafted Kaeding relatively high, in every season prior I've been known as the owner who waits until the last round (or, in a couple of seasons, the week the games start, carrying an extra RB until I had to drop one and play a kicker). This year, I picked Kaeding as the second or third off the board and a few jokes were made about it. Yet Kaeding is #1 at the position and I'm in the championship game.
