What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

It's not bad, it's just not great and not worth the price.

Speaking of worth the price....I was able to escape Afghanistan for a few days, down to Qatar, and paid some inflated prices for Guiness and Stella Artois on tap.

But after 5 months of imposed prohibition...it was damn good and worth it!

Now back to my sobriety until December....

CHUCK

Glad you're doing ok. First beer's on me.

Long Trail Double Bag, where you been all my life? Really no excuse for not trying this one sooner, what can I say, I didn't know. Brewed in Vermont, available in New England, I really have missed the beat on this. Excellent brew

Long time listener, first time caller here.

Made a run to Total Wine and Spirits tonight to buy some more Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA and also picked up some Toohey's Lager and some Tilburg's Dutch Brown Ale. I was going to buy some of the Sweetwater seasonal beer, Motorboat ESB but was talked into the Tilburg's instead. Regarding the Toohey's, someone had mentioned it at a recent business dinner I was at and my eye happened to wander across it as I was scanning the shelves so I decided to give it a try. Will report back later if there is any interest...

All three are currently chilling in the freezer for consumption with some Johnsonville Italian Sausage in about 30. In the meantime, I have to drink what's cold - Bud Select.

Here's my report....Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA - Good as usual, no need to go into further detail

Toohey's New Australian Lager - Ehhhh...nothing special. Tastes like a typical run-of-the-mill European lager. Probably won't get it again.

Tilburg's Dutch Brown Ale - Pretty good. Has more body than Newcastle, smooth finish, good taste. Will get it again although I still like the lighter taste of a Newcastle

Just scored some New Belgium Fat Tire. A great taste about it. The aftertaste is vaguely familiar, like a deja vu in my mouth. It's amazing, but I don't think I'm ready to be spending over $1 per beer ($4 Miller Lite bottles on the weekends are alright though). I mean I'm in college...

Flying Dog's variety 12-pack. I :bye: their IPA (although the others are good as well).
I bought the sample 12 pack over the weekend. I like Classic Pale Ale the best - grabbed a six last night.
just finished one....outstandinghave you had the Double Dog Double Pale Ale? There's a pub down the street from me that has it on tap
Double Dog is great. You talking about Draughthouse or Gingerman?
actually i'm up in Cedar Park. there's a new pub up there called The Dig. small place, but they have Double Dog and Dogfish 90-minute on tap, along with some other good stuff.

This is a good Fat Tire Summary

Very nice, deep orange color with a sizeable head. really not a lot of aroma here-just sort of says "beer". Very 1 dimensional. Malty flavor with a slight bite to it. Mild sulfury/yeasty flavor. Body is rather thin. Rather ho hum overall. I was expecting a lot more even with some of the negatives I read about here. Have wanted to try this for a long time. I think both it and I deserve a second chance.

or

It's a beer of a kind that get brewed across the globe: a mainstream product so lacking in character you forget you're drinking it.

Im not gonna even bother reading that review, but...It doesnt have a 'deep orange' color at all. It has a typical medium bodied ale color to it. The aroma isnt present, but I dont really typically judge beers by aroma.

It has nothing of a 'malty flavor'. Malt flavor is possibly what turns me off of a beer in the first place. It has a smooth, biscuit-like taste to me, and the aftertaste is just as good as the initial

No, Im not saying its probably even in the Top 10 Beers Ive ever had, but its a great beer for a "mass produced" micro brew

And that Killians comment I think is more insulting on your part than mine hombre

Anybody else in looking forward to the Firestone Walker XII release next week? I'm trying to get my hands on a bottle, but have moved to the east coast. It doesn't look like there will be any distributed in my area. Can you buy beer on the internet? How do people go about getting this kind of thing done?

Is that right off Cypress Creek? I thought I saw the name recently in my wanderings up that way. Dogfish 90 on tap would be sweeeeeet.ETA: Having a Ruination IPA from the Stone Brewery. mmmmmm
