What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

I recently moved and found a bunch of back of fridge stuff (I had 2 full size fridges full of beer in the garage, a mini fridge next to the couch, and the entire bottom shelf of the main kitchen fridge was for my beer only).

Drinking a year old Green Flash Hop Head Red. It is actually very nice. Bitterness is gone. A good malt forward red. I like it fresh too, but I think I like this better. More accessible, less mood specific.
Where'd you move to? Still in OB?

Of course. Now I'm a half way closer to Port.

What does being a captain at a beer fest entail?
Mostly just watching the volunteers (making sure they aren't over-serving themselves or others), watching the crowd for the over-served, looking for designated drivers that might try to drink (cheaper tickets for DDs), and helping the brewers so that they can enjoy their beer festival as well. There are other volunteer roles that Captains can oversee but working an island seems like the most fun to me.

Had a Founders Mosaic Promise tonight. Good, but nothing too crazy. It's more Pale Ale than IPA. Like a slightly lesser Alpha King.

Tommyknocker Small Patch Pumpkin Harvest Ale.

I am mildly disappointed. It's got pretty much everything right...except that it doesn't taste like pumpkin.

One would think someone would have noticed.

Doesn't taste like pumpkin, or doesn't taste like pumpkin spice?

Shorts Bonafide Legit, IPA brewed with Northern Michigan grown Summit Hops. Not as good as Huma, but a very solid IPA.

Gonna add dry hops to my first homebrew tonight...a Citra IPA that has been fermenting for 3 weeks...should be ready to bottle in 5-7 days, then ready to drink 2-3 weeks after that...can't wait to see how it turns out!

Hey Wing, my buddy is at Cycle right now getting me a growler of Crank. Is there anything else I should have him grab me?

I like their Hammer and Fixie IPA, too. Cream and Sugar Please is decent, and they have an Oktoberfest (Das Rad) I haven't tried yet.I'd advise him to get you more Crank. Lol. I friggin love that beer, I've got 4 Crowlers of it in my fridge right now.

Looks like they dabble in berliners. Are those any good?
Yes but I don't think you can get em in growlers...I could be wrong though.
Their Ecto-Cooliner is really good but they only brew it a couple times a year and only growler it for one day usually.Cycle's head brewer Doug Dozark is credited with coming up with the Florida-weiss style.

Are they trying to say they invented the fruit forward low abv sour?

Need to find someone in CA I can trade with to get some Pliny and Blind Pig....
:oldunsure:
I'll pay you for RR or Alpine beers any day of the week
Hijacked!
My move left me with less space, so I do have some 6 pack shippers to get rid of. I think I have 2. I'll fill them for you guys for cash/paypal. I don't think I should be taking any more beer in. I wouldn't turn down anything super cool I've never tried though.

3 core Alpine IPAs, Pliny…. There is a Blind Pig shortage. They stopped sending bottles down here. Just kegs. There are other great locals that I can fill those 2 slots with. Mother Earth Boo Koo is great. Kern River Just Outstanding is wonderful when it is around.

I'll try to round them up this week to get these boxes out of here.
Good news: Got the Pliny. Bottle date: 9/30

Bad News: Alpine is out of Pure Hop, so I could only get Nelson and Duet. I can wait until they bottle Pure Hop again or fill that hole with something else local and ship ASAP. Your guys' call.

Also, I'm waiting to hear back from a friend who thinks he may have a Pure Hop he can let go.

I guess the Florida Weiss is typically a low abv sour brewed with (usually) tropical fruit as opposed to adding fruit/sweet syrup to it for flavor.I'm sure it had been done before, but for whatever reason Doug is credited with coming up with it and it has since been dubbed Florida Weiss.
