What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Had a couple of wits and a winter ipa, but that doesn't matter.

It is everything it's cracked up to be. The only DIPAs that I would rate with it are Pliny the Elder and Goose Island IIPA. Ruination and Hopsickle are close.

 
If you live in or around Chicago, get yourself some of this. NOW!

Of all their reserves, I don't think you can beat the Imperial IPA

Any word on when they're gonna brew up a batch of that? I'm a big fan of their regular IPA, but haven't seen the imperial version.

I was in town two weeks ago and saw some at one of the Binny's. Also saw it in IN.

Binny's should be out. I ordered all the GI Imps from them and had them delivered to the Skokie location. Did the same for Sam's. Obviously, that was in the last couple weeks, but they should be out of stock. Side note: Sam's is also out of Dreadnaught, as I ordered all the left-overs from their stores sent to the Highland Park location. Sam's is also out of GI Imp.I am told they start brewing that in November again.

I have enough GI Imp to last me through the summer. So if you want some and can't find any, let me know. We can do a trade or something. Also, be sure to re-check Binny's, as I am sure they missed some but can't prove that. The Skokie location told me they were out and had four 4-packs in the cooler. Might be the same with another location. Obviously, I bought all four of those, but they seem to be a little sloppy in checking to make sure they are out.

I live in Wilmette. Not sure where you are, but we can meet in the middle if you are really interested in any GI Imps. These are already cold, so I can't really "ship" them, as they need to stay close to this temp to keep from going bad. Would be happy to part with a few if you are interested. I am on record many times as mentioning this is my favorite beer across the board. So I feel comfortable in saying it doesn't suck... :unsure:

I'd put the Elder near it but thats about it. The rest are good but Dreadnaught is something very, very special. I get weak in the knees just thinking about it. Hmm I do have one cold right now too. Maybe I should? I think I'll save it for another day.Tonight I drink Alesmith Speedway stout to reacclimate my mouth to it. Tomorrow I drink the barrel aged version...

 
just finished an Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock. ooof, at 12% that might not have been the way to start the evening.

Now on to a delicious Ayinger Ur-Weisse. :banned:

I dunno. Hoppy as hell. Just a bit bitter. I've been leaning more towards the less hoppy stuff recently, so I think it's going to take my tastebuds a bit to get adjusted. That said, I'd still rate it as:

A: 4.5

S: 4.5 (if BA would allow it would be about 4.7)

T: 4.5 (probably about a 4.3 right now, but going higher as I adjust)

M: 5

D: 4.5

My wife and I are in Memphis for the weekend, and I've had some decent brews. There's a Flying Saucer Draught House downtown, and while there I had:

Stone IPA - my first Stone --I was impressed. Excellent IPA

Dogfish Head Chicory Stout - a little underwhelming. Don't get me wrong, this is good stuff, but I'll take a Rogue Chocolate Stout any day.

Bridgeport IPA - I don't know if I'm just nuts, but I enjoyed this one, as much, if not even a bit more, than the Stone.

Also grabbed a sixer of Left Hand Sawtooth Amber from a local store.

 
just cracked open a Paulaner hefe. For me this is the King of Beers. :wub:

I'm partial to Schneider, but they're both very good. I'll be drinking one or two of these a day from the source in a couple of months. Nothing like a 10am hefe to start the day off right in Munich.

didn't know you were in town. The Saucer is a great place for beer. We also have Bosco's which brews their own and has pretty good food. It's located east of downtown in Overton Square.You can usually get Stone beers at a few of the liquor stores but for some reason the distributor hasn't been able to get a shipment in about a month. Buster's Liquors at Highland and Poplar Ave has the best selection of big beers and just down the street on Poplar is Raffe's Deli which has a pretty good selection of imports and craft brews.

:yes: We have a saucer here in Nashville as well. I meet one of my contract agents there about once every month or two for brews and plaid skirt watching.Winston, I've enjoyed every one of the Bridgeport beers that I have tried.

ETA: I'm having a Bluegrass Brewing Company American Pale Ale

Breckenridge #471 IPA. Good head and aroma so far....now for the taste...not too bad. Isn't great but certainly doesn't suck.

Had a Hale's Red Menace beer tonight. 22oz of hoppy bitterness that was a big changeup from my stout run I've been on. This was courtesy of the BIF exchange that someone is gonna get the shaft on in the next 7-10 days.

 
Trying my first Aventinus tonight. I've had this one in the fridge for awhile. I like wheat beers, but they're not my favorite style. I can see why this one is so highly rated though. Very nice.

Duvel, Ommegangs (one of which was $5/bomber; place is cheap), Samuel Smiths to start.

Lots of regionals but few locals: Big on Sea Dog for whatever reason, a couple from each Smuttynose and Magic Hat. A few more I forget.

and then some random incl. Ekstra Baltic Weisse Beer from Lithuania??

Anyway, I mixed a 6 pack of Magic Hats (#9, Fat Angel) and Smuttynose Shoal's Pale Ale.

Right now, I'm enjoying my first saison ever? Smuttynose Farmhouse Ale.

 
They're opening a Flying Saucer in Austin soon. I'm excited. I've always had a good experience at the one in Dallas. And enjoyed the uniforms.

And, SNPA here as almost always.

I tried to homebrew a Saison once. It was a disaster.
