In your opinion, what percentage of Americans are dumb? And not like dumb in the "they voted for something I'm against" way.

I ask this because it seems like whenever I'm out in public, it seems most people I end up having to talk to are idiots. Like, no common sense. Same with reading most internet comment sections. It's utterly mind bottling.

So what say you? What would you put the percentage of stupid Americans at?

Your personnel experiences are biassed, on account of if you're only judging by the people you encounter out in public, of course that sample is going to be extrapolate stupity. The achiever-people don't do their own shopping, don't take the public transport, don't go to the park to walk their chinchillas, etc. So it's probably only about 90% dumb as dog#### and the rest are getting massages, getting blown by a kardashian etc.

Sounds about right. Remember, they get to breed uncontrolled so the % will continue to climb. Give it another 100 years or so and the US will be about 95% knuckle dragging mouth breathers.

This would actually make a decent 7th grade science project. Of course first, you'd have to define stupidity and a way to quantify it.

Some of them would be fairly easy to find like:

- total number of Americans vs total number of Americans who voted to make Sarah Palin Vice President.

- Attendance figures for Creationist museums.

- # of page views a news article gets vs. the number of dumb comments it gets.

- Find every Chipotle or Subway that is close to a real deli or taqueria. Whoever is in line for Chipotle or Subway can be considered stupid.

Stuff like that.

I was thinking this a few days ago. Read any ESPN news feed comments section. I'm in a "you know you're from [insert city] when..." group on Facebook and the amount of dumbazzzery in there is beyond stupendous. Posts in all caps, misspellings, incomplete thoughts, incoherent thoughts.... it's pretty sad actually.

I was thinking this a few days ago. Read any ESPN news feed comments section. I'm in a "you know you're from [insert city] when..." group on Facebook and the amount of dumbazzzery in there is beyond stupendous. Posts in all caps, misspellings, incomplete thoughts, incoherent thoughts.... it's pretty sad actually.

One of the benefits of the recent ESPN.com redesign is that you have to click to see the comments.

When they used to appear below the article, I found myself reading them on occasion, which was always a waste of time.
