What the heck has happened to Adrian Peterson? (1 Viewer)

He fumbles all the time. In space, he dances around as much as Reggie Bush. I mean, he's downright unreliable.

No? Am I being too tough?

That game was like Byner's fumble game only amplified a million times. Had to be frustrating as hell for Vikings fans. They knew they had the best team, they just were too sloppy and beat themselves.

I don't think that Byner was known as a fumbler prior to that game, but Adrian Peterson (MIN) is a known fumbler. Byner is the victim of a clutch blunder on the big stage, whereas Peterson habitually coughs up pills. I thought that they would have hired Tiki Barber as a consultant a long time ago, seriously.

Lucky for Peterson he wasn't the only one fumbling or he would be remembered like Byner.

It's funny when I seen him screaming "why you taking me the #### out" on a 3rd down play in the fourth quarter. Um I dunno Adrian, maybe cause you act the the football is a hot potato? A shame he can't get past the fumbleitis.

am i crazy or has he already lost a quarter step since his rookie year
I don't think he's lost a step, but he doesn't appear to have the drive that he had his rookie year. You could see that on the long plays he busted in the 2nd half. I'm not going to say he's not trying but he doesn't look like he trying his hardest on every play like he did his rookie year. In a way I can't blame him since his style of running is punishing on his body, but it's disappointing to watch.

Diehard Vikes fan here, If he does not learn how to hold on to the football he will be remembered as one the "potentially" greatest RB the game ever saw, unfortunitly he hurt his own career with fumbles. It is painful to watch as a Vikings fan. Bo Jacksons hip injury and AD's fumbles, may cut two HOF carrers short.

IF it continues, no coach is going allow him to carry the ball 20- 25 times a game if he is going to turn it over once or twice a game. It is a career killer no matter how dominating a player he could be.

He needs to spend part of the off season with Tiki Barber..

If anyone else recalls, Barber was also known as a "Fumbler" early on in his career and he learned to run with the ball tight against his chest and had a very good career after that.

He still has the skills to be one of the best and is still young enough to learn.

Lost a step? 122 yards and 3 tds? What were you expecting? If it wasn't for those two lost fumbles he is the MVP of the game.

 He never would have got 3 tds if he had coach with some gonads. He should have been riding the bench when it was time to punch in those gimmies.

Vikes need to hire Tiki Barber as RB coach next year. ADP's career isn't threatened by a fixable problem. He just needs the propper coaching.

Like that 19 yard TD run in the first quarter? I'm not sure how many gimmy TDs there are in championship games to begin with.

No, like the 2 second half gimmies after he fumbled for the 3rd time. Are you for real?

No are you?? :loco: Like the Redskins wouldn't give up 1/4 of their team to have a RB like Peterson on it.

ADP put that team in a very horrible position and IMO lost the game for them. i would have benched him as well. had they been able to count on him and had he been able to protect the ball, the vikings would have won by like 14 at least. they need to address this in the offseason.

Me?! Look at the stat sheet! Should Favre or Harvin or Berrian have been on the field? If Peterson didn't play yesterday, NO wins by 20. Guy rushed for 70+ yards and 2 tds in the second half and you want him on the bench? That's ludicrous. There's no such thing as a gimme TD. Vikes get stuffed and settle for field goals there and the game isn't even in question.

Are you really telling me that he shouldn't have been benched after his 3rd fumble? Also, what grade are you in? Oh...because the vikings are better than my team, you win the argument? :loco:

I don't need to look at the boxscore, I actually watched the game.

You might want to check on your lyin eyes. Would you have benched Favre for OT after that game killing int when he just needed to run for 5 and fall down (not that it mattered since they never saw the ball)?

Favre never would have been put in a 3rd & 15 had his idiot coach, not decided to try to run the fumbler straight up the gut twice and settle for a long field goal.

Yeh, should have thrown that pick on first down, that would have been smarter. And what do you do about the 12th man in the huddle? Cut him outright?

12 man in the huddle? Again, it goes back to the coach.

Right, and if losing 2 fumbles gets the best player on the field benched, what does that get you? Burn down his house, go after his family? The Vikes made a ton of mistakes, the idea that benching Peterson is the way to address them is just stupid.

Favre didn't have a lot of room to run and with only a few seconds left on the clock the saints would not be able to do anything with it anyway if they got it. - so why not throw the ball and take a chance (remember they are out of Longwells range) ?

Not saying this is complete absolution, but I've watched every game he has ever played since coming to the Vikes and at least half the fumbles have come when he is fighting for extra yards or still on his feet when other runners would have been down already. The fumbles are huge and probably not worth the extra 2 yards he is trying to get, but it's hard to get mad at some of them. Others, like the Hillemeyer strip, were just great defensive plays. Maybe only 1/3 of AD's fumbles were inexusable.

You act like Chester Taylor isn't a viable option. Childress & Peterson lost that game for the vikings...end of story.

Watch the play again- he could probably have run for 10 yards no sweat even with the limp. There was NOBODY in front of him.

Im still waiting to hear how the game would have changed with Taylor playing after the 3rd fumble instead of Peterson. PETERSON DIDN'T FUMBLE AGAIN. What would Taylor have done better? Peterson cracked off an 18 yard run and a 27 yard run and a TD after his 3rd fumble- how does being on the bench help? Does the great Chester Taylor improve on that?

I never said that the vikes win with Peterson on the bench...just said he belonged there. You're the one that said he'd have been the game MVP if not for his 3 fumbles. I agree. The vikes win the game if Peterson didn't fumble it away.

They win the game if all the other guys didn't turn the ball over especially Favre. And quit acting like he lost all those fumbles, one of them he gained yardage on. You don't bench your studs just to act like a hard ### in the middle of a playoff game. If Peterson doesn't play at all the Vikes get run out of the building.

The started the play at the 38. That would make it a 55 yard attempt. Longwell said he was hitting from 56-57 in his pregame warm up. No doubt they would have attempted the field goal on an incompletion.

If Taylor plays every snap, the vikings win. No doubt in my mind.

You need a chill pill and are ridiculous. Peterson's fumbles are a huge problem, and cost them the game.

I wonder of kicking in warm ups is different than kicking against a rush? I mean like the angle of the kick and all?

I'm not saying he was guaranteed to make it, but the claim they were out of his range, or wouldn't have attempted the field goal without gaining more yards, is innacurate.
