no chance they put charlie frye and the raiders in prime time.cowboys-eagles is the only choice.other games times typically get altered in week 17 too, right? What game gets moved to Sunday Night? Can't be Bengals-Jets. If the Pats win, the Bengals have nothing to play for and bench everyone. Maybe Ravens-Raiders, since the Wild Card comes down to that game? Or Cowboys-Eagles?
99 percent sure there is a sunday night game. its listed on tvguide.com as teams TBA.i agree it will probably be the eagles-cowboys. so basically, every team in the NFC East had at least 2 prime time games in december/january.No Sunday or Monday night games next week.
All week 17 games are on Sunday afternoon according to NFL.com, my Vegas rotation books, and other sites.http://www.sbgglobal.com/nfl-football/nfl-odds-week-1799 percent sure there is a sunday night game. its listed on tvguide.com as teams TBA.i agree it will probably be the eagles-cowboys. so basically, every team in the NFC East had at least 2 prime time games in december/january.No Sunday or Monday night games next week.
The reason I don't think this happens is because the Bengals will have nothing to play for if the Pats win at 1. so they'll bench everyone and rest for the playoffs. The NFL doesn't want to showcase one team laying down to allow another team to clinch an uncontested playoff slot. It's going to be Jets-Bengals - I can almost guarantee it.Jets make the playoffs with a win. There's a lot of things that can happen that would knock them out with a loss:1) A Miami Win being the main thing.Even without Miami winning:2) A Baltimore Win (since Pitt will have won, thus making two 9-7 teams)3) A Denver Win (since Pitt will have won, thus making two 9-7 teams)4) A Houston Win (same reason)And even if these 4 all lose:5) A Jacksonville win (since they will be 8-8 and have an 8-4 conference record, thus pipping the Jets for the spot)Mark it Down: Jets-Bengals on Sunday Night. I'll be there freezing with ya.-QG
You're assuming the Bengals lay down. They may not. Some guys might play hungry given the opportunity. The Pats could lose - it kinda depends on how they feel about the choice between #3 and #4 - they may not care that much.It is possible (though not likely) that even if the Pats win, the Bengals may have a shot at the #3 since it will go to Strength of Victory if they are tied.Win and your in, lose and your out is the most compelling scenario. The Jets are the only team this applies to.-QGThe reason I don't think this happens is because the Bengals will have nothing to play for if the Pats win at 1. so they'll bench everyone and rest for Week 17. If the Bengals go into the Sunday Night game with the #4 seed guaranteed, do you really think the Bengals are going to play anyone? They'll have the chance to either give all their starters a week off, or to wear them out and head into the playoffs on a short week following the late game. Also, win and your in applies to the Ravens. The networks love showing the Cowboys. This gives them another reason to do it.QuizGuy66 said:You're assuming the Bengals lay down. They may not. I originally thought the Jets might get it - but how can they not give it to the Boys and Eagles? The only thing I can think of is that they want more people to watch in the biggest market - NYC.If the Bengals go into the Sunday Night game with the #4 seed guaranteed, do you really think the Bengals are going to play anyone? If the game was about the Bengals, I'd be inclined to agree, but the game is more about the Jets. Even a Bengals team benching some guys probably has more appeal than the Raiders do. The New York market also blows away Baltimore. Love him or hate him, Chad makes for some good TV as well - even for a half if it turns out that way. They may love to show the Cowboys, but the game ultimately will probably be just for seed. The games tonight and tomorrow could have an impact, though, it is true. Minnesota losing today would give Philly a clean shot at the #2. If Dallas loses as well, then, you are probably right cuz then either Philly is playing for a bye (If Minny follows their loss with a win) or Dallas is playing for a spot. Personally I think both Dallas and Minny will win making it academic.Anyhow, I'm gonna start figuring out my layering options for next Sunday nightIf the Bengals go into the Sunday Night game with the #4 seed guaranteed, do you really think the Bengals are going to play anyone? I hope this is incorrect.

Yup - ugh.jets bengals is official.
wow. Guess I was wrong.Yup - ugh.jets bengals is official.
If New England wins at 1:00, they are the #3 seed and Cincy has nothing to play for.... correct?jets bengals is official.
Correct. Jets would be in a win-and-in scenario. Which is what NBC is hyping the game as.If New England wins at 1:00, they are the #3 seed and Cincy has nothing to play for.... correct?jets bengals is official.
Cool. I'm playing against Palmer next week. I think he deserves a rest.Correct. Jets would be in a win-and-in scenario. Which is what NBC is hyping the game as.If New England wins at 1:00, they are the #3 seed and Cincy has nothing to play for.... correct?jets bengals is official.

NOT correct. If the Bengals and Patriots both win, it goes to the strength of victory tiebreaker, which the Bengals can still win over New England. New England does lead the tiebreaker and it is possible the Bengals will have their seed locked in by kickoff. But it depends on a bunch of other games.-QGCorrect. Is there that much of a difference between 3 and 4? You get a home game followed by having to travel if you win. I guess a 3 seed would give you a better shot at hosting an AFC Championship game if you won the first two.NOT correct. So a week 17 game where they will probably be resting their starters is the only national TV appearance by the AFC North champs....Roger Goodell![]()

What does Goodell have to do with anything? As a Bengals fan, I'd rather be a 4 seed and travel to Indy instead of flying out to San Diego. Is there that much of a difference between 3 and 4? Yep - this is how I see it. I won't get too excited but I see the Bengals resting guys and not showcasing too much. Might be vanilla, but who knows.I am very pumped (despite the change) about this game. It's the last game in the stadium, win and you're in for the playoffs, and I am sitting first row 45 yard line behind the bench. I couldn't ask for a better XMas present (aside from a Jets win) from my better half. The woman who sold her the tickets last week was disgusted and said there was no point in going to this game. Price was so cheap it was a no brainer. /donewithmyexictedrantIf the Jets beat the Bengals, we're guaranteed of a Jets-Bengals rematch in round 1. That makes me think the Bengals bench their players (can you imagine what Cincy would do if Palmer got banged up in this game??), but we'll see.
The networks pick what they want to show in primetime and almost all of the primetime schedule is decided before the season begins. The Bengals won 4 games last year. How many times would you put them in primetime?I would assume he approves the NFL schedules and who does or does not get national tv games? So a week 17 game where they will probably be resting their starters is the only national TV appearance by the AFC North champs....Roger Goodell![]()

I hear ya, but Philly and Dallas are two of the most watched teams in the NFL, not to mention this game could determine #2 seed in the NFC, NFC East division winner, Wildcard placement. Its a huge game. Oh yeah, its also one the most heated rivalries in the NFL. I am very surprised they didn't get the nod. Though as a huge fan and someone that has Monday morning meetings, I am also very grateful. This is about ratings. Dallas/Philly will attract Cowboy and Eagle fans. Jets/Bengals will attract NY viewers, Bengals fans, the fans of whatever team will get to the playoffs if the Jets lose and some from whatever team might get the third seed if Cincy loses. Philly and Dallas are in, correct? I don't know if I would watch it. If there was something else on the tube of interest... unless I have a FF interest, I'm pretty footballed out by Sunday night. (much of that has to do with the talking heads in football). As a Jets fan, I'd also prefer if they played on Sunday daytime. But it's about the $$$. It's always about the $$$.

It sucks, but that is how it goes. When you clinch early, some would say you earn the right to do what the Bengals might do next week. With not having a bye in the first round, they can probably afford to rest their players for the bulk of next week's game (although their passing game needs major work).Ultimately, the Bengals tanking and screwing the Steelers would be some delicious irony. As a Steelers fan I hate this. If New England beats Houston and Baltimore beats Oakland, I believe that Cincinnati will be looking at a scenario where if they win, they play either the last seed Pittsburgh in the first round or the 5th seed Baltimore (not sure if Cincy or New England wins the tie breaker) and if they lose, they get to play the Jets again. The Jets would be a favorable scenario for them because they'll be scouting a Jets team that was playing for it's playoff life and they won't tip their hands to the Jets at all.Basically, instead of having the drama of both NE and Cincy playing at the same time without knowing what the other is going to do, they have now given the Bengals the incentive to throw the game.
