what would a shark say? (1 Viewer)

Let me spell out the situation first.

12 team league.

starters:

1 QB

1 RB

2 WR OR TE

2 FLEX (RB,WR, OR TE)

1 K

1 TEAM D

Only the wr and te positions get any ppr and that is 1/2pt per reception.

After the first 6 rbs (based on last years results) this scoring sytem actually scores on average a little bit more

for the wr/te position.

Since I have the option to start 4 wr/te at the most or 3 rb at the most, which position

is most valuable?

Somebody should PM Joe and ask him to dedicate a forum to WSIS type questions. I think with all the threads we have like this it could be really helpful.

This isn't an asst coach forum question. It's more along the lines of which positions to focus on in the draft. Frankly, I don't think one stands out over the other due to flexibility. If you focus on WR, for example, other teams will have the RBs you pass on. And vice versa.

I'm not asking who to start.I thought the question was pretty clear.I'm asking what position is more valuable.
Okay, my mistake.Really, I'm not too familiar with this type of scoring so any position I would toss out there wouldn't be based on anything. However, if wr's typically outscore the rb's based on the scoring system, I'd think you would want to go wr heavy.

i'm no shark, but after round one taking a RB, i would treat RBs, WRs, and TEs as one position and take the best available for the next 8 rounds. hit up QBs after that.

with that said, you will likely be surprised how important WRs are in this scoring system and that after the first tier of RBs, there is a deep group of WRs who will outperform the next tier of RBs.

so while i will say WR, it's not that you should go out of your way to pick a lot of WRs. but rather using the methodology mentioned in the first sentence in my post that will be the conclusion you will inevitably reach.

If I were in that league, I would go RB in the first, and then take whatever WR/RB/TE is projected to score the most points in rounds 2-5. However in rounds 2-5, I'd take one more RB if a) I only had one RB so far and b) the RB was only about 20 points behind the WR. This is just to cover your back if your primary RB goes down (and of course bye weeks).

This would probably translate into something like RB-WR-WR-RB-WR.

This would probably give you one of the better teams in the league, as your leaguemates stock up on mediocre RB's.

Thanks, that's kind of what I'm thinking as well.Nice to hear it from someone else.
