Yeah, Sam Walton and William Target, to name just two. There are people in retail who make a lot more than $50k.
I would like to applaud you for posting a comment that did not have the words lib, liberal, socialist, Obama, or mainstream media in it.Who's going to pay them 50K a year? You? Sure, i'm all for that.
Don't forget Crazy Eddie.Yeah, Sam Walton and William Target, to name just two. There are people in retail who make a lot more than $50k.
Certainly not.wouldn't the cost of all goods and services rise proportionally?
"Shouldn't"? -thats debateable. the fact that they would is certain.Don't these corporations net billions in profits a year?
The price of goods & services shouldn't be affected.
please feel free to actually add anything to the discussionthis is like freshman dorm room level discource
Naive quote of the day?Don't these corporations net billions in profits a year?
The price of goods & services shouldn't be affected.
Yeah, corporations don't need profits. Investors just want to risk their money so they can break even. This is brilliant. We should have just thought of eliminating profits before.Naive quote of the day?Don't these corporations net billions in profits a year?

I would boycott any business that did that and I hope most people would too50K might be about right for fast-food jobs in the near future. Keeping a bunch of robots operating requires some skill.
It's definitely coming in Europe (where wages are higher). But it is being implemented as a supplement, if the lines are long you can order at the tablet instead of standing in line. Last I saw it was in a McD in Amsterdam airport about a month agoI would boycott any business that did that and I hope most people would too50K might be about right for fast-food jobs in the near future. Yeah, I don't get boycotting. Seems like a plus to me. I'd love to hit a couple of buttons instead having of this conversation:It's definitely coming in Europe (where wages are higher). I think what he is saying, is that everyone who doesn't currently make $50k a year at their job, would now make that. Most jobs in this country are low skill (office, construction, healthcare, education, sales, hospitality, government, etc) and many already make $50k/yr. Not sure I understand your question. Do you mean jobs that don't require a fancy college degree?
Robots.
Wouldn't it have to? The Mcdonalds manager isn't going to make less than the kid on the fryers.Does that mean that everyone else's salary would rise by a like margin?
I want to guess that you're in 8th grade, but the fact that you joined here in 2009 makes that idea a little creepy.Don't these corporations net billions in profits a year?
The price of goods & services shouldn't be affected.
Walmart has over 1.3 million employees, you don't think that increasing all of their salaries to 50K won't affect the price of goods, you gotta be kidding.Don't these corporations net billions in profits a year?
The price of goods & services shouldn't be affected.

These are the facts...
If this entire system, planet wide, doesnt change so that everyones right to happiness is respected by sharing the resources then violent class warfare is inevitable.
The technology and resources exist so that suffering due to poverty can be significantly reduced if not nearly eradicated.
The only thing preventing that is blind greed and selfishness, the driving force behind all of the problems in society be they economical, religious or cultural. We as a species should be way beyond all this petty BS.
Im going to get blasted for these statements and it will usually go something like this....
"Blah blah blah lazy people yakkity yakkity I work harder than anyone yadda yadda yadda entitlement pffft pffft pfft I dont like helping people"

Personally I think there should be a combination of increased wages (although not to the tune of 50k), price control of necessities for life and a profit sharing corporate structure to make up the difference.Look it's easy to pile on here but what Gachi raises is the issue of mechanization and the increasing lack of utility human labor contributes to cheap commodity goods and services. This is an issue many renowned economists have studied for years. Google the BIG.
Having said that yeah, raising minimum salaries to 50k ain't exactly the way to fight this.
Just wondering if you're going to change your mind about this whole thing when you have to take on your first employee(s).No, not any time soon at least. I am the sole proprietor abd employee.Didn't you just start your own business? Hoping to take on any employees soon?Opinions mean nothing

Why?
That doesn't sound like a very progressive/enlightened position. That's never going to fly.Personally I think there should be a combination of increased wages (although not to the tune of 50k), price control of necessities for life and a profit sharing corporate structure to make up the difference.Look it's easy to pile on here but what Gachi raises is the issue of mechanization and the increasing lack of utility human labor contributes to cheap commodity goods and services. Wages should be at least somewhat commensurate with performance.
