What's a good laptop for $250 or less? (1 Viewer)

Used Thinkpad.

I've bought and thrown away many, many consumer grade $300 laptops. Now, I use a 6 year old T420 that's a ####### tank. I'll never buy new consumer grade crap again. Refurbished business grade laptops are where it's at.

Depending on the year, you can find a very good old Thinkpad for $175 to $250, then spend a little more putting in some more RAM and an SSD.

Adding to the above, Lenovo, Dell, and HP business-grade refurbs would all be great choices for your price point. They are usually bulkier than consumer-grade but are sturdier, built to be upgraded easily, and seem to generally experience less problems than their consumehe counterparts.  Loren of sites to look at, but my preference is NewEgg.com.

I bought an HP Stream not too long ago for $200. Not exactly sure yet what it can do or not do, but so far it's shown all the youtube videos I've wanted to see.

I bought a hp refurb about 8 years ago. I still use it everyday

niece broke off the left clicker button a few years ago so I might be in the market for a new one. especially since someone mentioned league of legends

How do you know its a good business grade refurb laptop?
Well that's two questions.  To be brief:  Many business grade laptops are built more sturdy than consumer laptops, come chock full with nice security features, and seem to have better support.  Identifying good refurbs are tougher, but NewEgg sellers have never let me down.
