What's a Herm Edwards offense? (1 Viewer)

That wasn't a Vermeil (Coryell disciple) offense by any stretch. The OL coach continuing that O doesn't seem to be true to me. That was eerily similar to some Jet offensive games.

What's a Herm offense to you? Did the Chiefs play that today? Or was it continuing Vermeil's system?

How does this, if at all, affect your thoughts for them in 2006?

It's one that goes 39-41 in five seasons.
ahh cmon manI mean Curtis led the NFL in rushing under him and was 2nd another time IIRC. I'm not saying "this is the end of LJ" or being dramatic by any stretch but I think it'd be good to re-analyze this. I don't think this is taking too much out of one week. I feel like I definitely saw that Jet O. I could also use Rovers, Chase, and some other Jet fans to tell me if they agree or KC fans to say that wasn't Vermeil's O

I was just trying to be funny. I kind of like Herm. But not as much as I like Howie Long.

I own LJ and both my leagues and am not overly concerned. Considering this was an "off" day for LJ and he still totalled 150 yds, I'm not spooked.

What I loved to see was all the dump off passes LJ was being fed in gargabe time.

But no, from what I saw, this looked different than previous incarnations of Chiefs O.

I know just trying to get ya to comment some football stuff

Looked like KC to me, just sloppier. Same screens, dives, reverses ect.. but they took a nose dive as soon as TG went down. Their D couldn't hang with Cincy and as soon as they went down by 2 scores the run was missing. (though LJ looked fine on the ground today)

Remember, Vermiel was always a practice perfectionist. They started out pretty crisp last year and this year looks different. IMHO this team will get going and it sounds like Green will be back soon. LJ owners will get theirs when playoff time comes just like any other season.

"You play to win the game" - and then run an offense so conservative that it strangles the life out of your franchise!

I still can't believe the Jets got a draft pick for that guy! Robbery!!!!

Herm Edwards is easilly the worst HC in the NFL. KC is looking at a 6 win season.
I couldn't agree more. I sent my condolences to all you KC fans months ago. I mean, come on, he's an NFL head coach that got traded for a 4rth round pick. Check all previous trades of NFL head coaches in the past and use it as a precidense. Was their ever not at least one 1st round pick involved plus more? :lmao: The man is a clown. He's a cheerleader posing as a head coach. The funniest part about Herm is that his motto, what he is famous for is his whole, "You play to win the game" speel. However, that is the exact opposite of what he really does! He is the most conservative (and clueless) NFL coach in the league and he does not "play to win;" he tries to play not to lose. As a Jets season ticket holder I could not be happier that he is no longer holding back our team's development and that his 'country club' training camps are no longer making our team soft, out of shape, and unprepared for the regular season.HTH.

I heard Edwards on the radio last week talking about how last year's offense scored too fast so the defense was on the field too much. He talked about how it was more important to control the ball, and how this year's offense would be more oriented toward controlling the game.

Apparently, an Edwards offense runs a lot of plays in an attempt to kick a field goal, so the defense has a chance to rest. Wouldn't want to risk scoring too fast and having your D line gassed.

Wow, that's unreal. Any jackass could tell you that if you are up big, by default you control the ball by forcing the other team to throw (and you know it is coming), and you have the luxury of running with your magnificent (KC) offense. If scoring fast and having an unstoppable run game isn't controlling the ball, I don't know what is.

As a Jets fan, I have to admit, I was sheepishly grinning as I saw the KC score scroll by all day.

Here's what I'll add:

1) How many times have you ever seen him with a clipboard?

2) Why does he need his own "clock management coach"?

3) How often do you see him talking into his headset where it looks like he's discussing SOMETHING with his coordinators?

After watching him all these years, things like this became a running joke with me and my friends and we'd see him just standing on the sidelines with his arms cross and no clipboard and we'd say "DO SOMETHING. ACT like you're calling in a play."

Good luck.
