Whats more Valuable this year? Startup Pick or Rookie only Pick (1 Viewer)

This seems like a strong rookie class coming up. With that said what is more valuable in terms of a dynasty startup: a midrange pick during the startup draft or a top 2 pick in the rookie only draft? the reason I ask is that some of the people in the back end of the startup draft are asking to move up. Its a 16 team league and I have the 8th pick in both the startup and the rookie only. the 16th pick in the startup has the first in the rookie, etc. Would you move the 8th pick down to say 15/16 in the startup, knowing that you can still get quality players, in order to switch from 8th to 2nd in the rookie only draft? If this is a AC forum question let me know and I'll move it but Im looking for general/or specific advice on how to approach a dynasty startup and determining value between the startup portion and the rookie only portion. The startup draft will be happening in the next week or so.

just sub in players for these picks

calvin or blackmon+fitz?

since its a 16 team league, where depth is more important, i would take the 1.16+rookie pick

also, rookie picks will only gain value as we get closer to april. so getting the pick now is a good move. even if you dont like the pick, you can sell it in april and still make a profit

I'd say a move from Rookie 1.09 to rookie 1.02-03 is worth a move from start up 1.09 to 1.14-15..
I'd call this deal robbery for the guy getting the 1.02/1.03 rookie pick. There's a much bigger difference between rookie pick 1.03 and 1.09 than there is in start-up picks 1.09 and 1.14. The first three rookie picks (give or take a pick or two depending on year) generally have a much higher value than far more speculative mid to late first round rookie picks.

He should make the deal then if it presents itself..I tend to agree with you here. But I'm not as sure about it as you seem to be.. It's a fairly safe trade for the team moving up in the rookie draft if you ask me..
