While I mentally lump tattoos and piercings into the same bin of body alterations, it’s interesting that non-ear pokes tend to be the purview of the fairer sex. I guess the latter are essentially jewelry, which is more of a woman thing.

1 pencil lead that has been embedded in my palm for 30+ years.

When I was about 10 I was at a buddies house and we were playing a board game. I had a pencil and was tossing it up in the air and catching it as I was walking back and forth. In the midst of this I dropped the pencil right as I was stepping to where it landed (i was barefoot). I proceeded to step directly on to the pointed end of the pencil and drive it halfway through my foot. I then rolled my ankle and fell and had the pencil sticking out of my the bottom of my foot. I took out the pencil and the point had broken off but we couldn't find the lead. It could be in my foot or it broke before puncturing my skin. I will never know. The worst part of the injury was the rolled ankle. The wound healed pretty quick.

It was a one in a million perfect sequence of events. I probably couldn't do it again if a I tried.
