We are living in the age of everything being video'd and yet we have so little footage of ghost activity. Also, it doesn't make sense to me that ghosts choose to live by these rules of only choosing to interact with humans when there is no one else around.

I've never seen one.

I do believe they exist though. :tinfoilhat:

Pretty much where I am at with it.

About 15 years ago, we briefly lived in my wife's grandparents' house. It was build on an Indian graveyard, and her grandmother committed suicide there. There was definitely a presence.... the dogs also would not go into the basement.

Saw a ghost in a patient’s room one night. Turned around and she was leaning over the patient and quickly disappeared. Got the distinct impression that she was the patient’s abuela.

ETA: I’ve had a couple other experiences, but that’s the only time I actually saw one.

No, and it's absolutely ridiculous when I hear people who talk about being sure they exist because they heard noises or felt a presence, or saw a shadow. Otherwise smart people just get crazy stupid sometimes when it comes to this.

My wife is convinced I'm a medium. Not sure communication with dead people in my sleep counts. :oldunsure:

I don't believe in much, but it is kinda crazy the things I have had/seen happen. I am not religious at all fwiw.

Pretty much this, although I will add I would love for it to be true. I would love for there to be ghosts. I am ready to believe!

But I don't think there is, and if anyone knows a great deal on a haunted house, I will buy it.

I had some vivid dreams of a lover who passed.

When I was a small child (under 3 feet) I saw a calico cat at the foot of my bed. Thinking my parents bought a cat I reached out to pet it. The thing dissolved as my hand got close to it. Haven't seen it since. 😺 👻

So many people just completely underestimate how much our own brains can mess with us.

Yes, I think I've seen a ghost before. I was taking care of a neighbor's dog while they were out of town. I was walking the dog in their backyard, and went to the area that becomes the property of the house behind them. There was an old barn, lots of woods, and then the beginning of a big garden area that had grown wild in places. The owners of the dog owned that house too, and it was going to be renovated and sold. Nobody lived there at the time. It was owned and lived in for decades by the Suttonwoods. As a matter of fact, the street that runs in front of that house is named after them. Anyway, I was standing in the area where the garden starts, and I heard the sound of a branch being pulled back. I turned and looked, and I saw a woman from behind, and she was wearing a straw hat and picking flowers off a bush. I walked around the brush to talk to her, which took about 20 seconds to do, and she was gone when I got to the other side. There were flower petals on the ground. She didn't go inside the house. It was closed and locked up for renovation, and I would have seen her walking to the house. She didn't go down the driveway, because it was very long, and I would have seen her walking down the driveway. She vanished. I told the owners of the dog about the incident when they returned from their trip, and he said that Mrs. Suttonwood always wore a straw hat when she worked in her garden. He said maybe it was her ghost. I think it was.

I guess this is my hang up with the concept of “ghosts” - people always describe what they were wearing. Why is a spirit wearing clothes?

It seems a real spirit would be something less tangible - more of a feel- than a thing in complete human form wearing clothes.

Not trying to single you out here @simey and Im not trying to pretend I have all the answers - but just kind of thinking out loud.

I never said she was wearing clothes, I said she was wearing a hat, which is an accessory. She did, however, have on long pants and a long sleeve shirt. It was odd to me that she had a hat on, because it was a cloudy fall day. She was picking some beautiful purple aster flowers. The hat does have some significance, because Mrs. Suttonwood always wore a big straw hat in her garden according to my neighbor.

Perhaps spirits can present themselves in all shapes and forms, and sometimes not visually at all. I only know what I saw and then didn't see. For me, I don't need scientific proof to believe in the spirit world. We can't explain everything.

Seen one? No. Experienced one? Yes

Many many years ago I was working a summer job during my college years printing t-shirts. The small company was located in an older wooden 2-story structure. Worked the 2nd shift with my friend. We were the only 2 that worked the 2nd shift. Every one else had left for the day and around dinner time (about 6 PM) we went upstairs for our dinner break. The break room had an older television console set (prior to remote controls) and we turned on the local news. About 25 minutes in the door buzzer went off. Now seeing how everyone had gone home for the day the door was locked. There were only 5 minutes left in our break so we shut off the TV, turned off the lights and went down stairs to investigate why the door buzzer went off. We checked the front door and it was definitely still locked and we searched the 1st floor and found nobody. We then heard the upstairs floor creeking and footsteps from upstairs as if someone was walking around up there. So we went upstairs to check it out. And the lights to the breakroom were on and the television was turned back on. When we told the boss/owner the next day he wasn't surprised and said the place has long been rumored to be haunted. I was always skeptical of whether ghosts existed, but that experience made me a believer.

I don't believe in "ghosts" meaning souls of people who passed before.

I do believe in "ghosts" meaning angels and demons. I have never seen one but people I trust implicitly have.

Back in the 90s, a candle on my girlfriends headboard lit itself one night around 3am...the flickering light woke me up, and my girlfriend was fast asleep next to me. I woke her up because it freaked me out, and she told me her house was haunted by an old guy who died on the property years before, and not to worry about it..."He's just having fun messing with you" she said.

The next day, while grabbing anything I had left there over the months we were dating, a shelf that was about 8 feet off the ground literally flew off the wall and just missed my head.

I never went back to that house.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one, at least while I was awake. I had a dream about my childhood dog a few years after he died, and in the dream I realized that he was a ghost, and once I realized that, he sank into the ground like it was water. Weird and a little disturbing, but I didn’t feel bad about him, because I knew he was no longer in pain.

As for human ghosts, I don’t think I’ve ever seen them, though I have seen and heard things that are hard to explain. I also believe in angels and demons, the latter of whom likely can masquerade as ghosts to deceive people, though the concept of an actual ghost has occurred at least once in the Bible, with Samuel’s ghost appearing to Saul, so their existence is at least plausible.

Sounds like grandpa ghost wanted your girlfriend for himself.

Another girlfriend / ghost story...

I was dating a girl at the end of HS who lived in the town over from me. I'd go to her house during the day in the summertime to hang out with her and her friends. Her dad once told me that a coffee table with a glass top had levitated a foot or so into the air and came crashing down. Also, there was a window behind where they kept their living room TV, and you could see down the hall if you looked in the window's reflection. He said he'd be watching TV and would see people walking around when he was there alone. Now, obviously just hearsay and he coulda just been trying to spook me, but I definitely got a chill anytime I was in the back part of the house. I am definitely sensitive to "paranormal things", so I don't think it was unreasonable to think something was going on in that house.

Okay, not something I talk about because people will want to lock me away. I have attracted spirits/ghosts since I was little. I have always seen things that I can't explain. I had a spirit couple that would come visit me on the regular when I was 16-17. They would appear in my room, black and white, both dressed in kind of a Victorian dress style and the wife would be sitting in my computer chair, while her male partner would stand beside her with his hand on her shoulder. She would smoke and that was it. They just sat there and then they would disappear. I got to the point I was bored with them because they always showed up and did nothing.

I have countless stories of spirits that have appeared--most of them good that seem to want to tell me something. One scared me almost to death. I was in my early 30's and was showering in the middle of the afternoon. As I came out, this half body apparition was in the doorway. (obscure reference but think the big grey dude from Aeon Flux music video Come to Daddy) and put his hands on either side of the door and the room went ice cold--so much so the fogged up mirror completely cleaned off. That was not a good encounter.

To this day, I still have many encounters with things I can't explain. My wife is a huge believer, but just hasn't had the experiences I have. My 18 year old daughter appears to have inherited my gift/curse because she has experienced a lot. She has some really good videos of stuff including a couple nights ago a camera that was sitting on top her computer tower literally flew off it. She has had vivid encounters with her great grandmother, who died before she was born, but she makes statements about her that there is no way she could know.

We have the running joke in our house when things ramp up that the "house is really active tonight." You hear footsteps running across the floor upstairs. Cabinets opening and shutting during the night. One night my wife and I were sitting on the couch and literally something ran down the stairs and slammed into a curio cabinet at the base of the steps and knocked pictures over. Our prior cat died when he was 20--his spirit is still here. He was a huge cat and I see him out of the corner of my eye often. The vertical blinds that he loved to play in move at all times of the day even when no ac or furnace are on. But the strangest thing that has just started recently are the footprints. I will be sitting on the couch and magically footprint indentations will appear on the couch cushions next to me and then they will slowly fade. They have appeared elsewhere on the other couches as well the past few nights. We bought these couches after he died. I have pictures and video of all that.

I am a pretty ordinary, boring guy, who has been with my wife for over 30 years, has two great adult daughters and I think I am pretty successful--business wise, so it is not like I have some undiagnosed mental illness, but this stuff happens so regularly, and I have documentation of it, that I believe--boy do I believe.
