No, have thought about it but there isn’t something I want permanently on my body enough to pay for it. But I wouldn’t be surprised if I get one sooner than later.

Here’s “one” I got for my Grandfather. That picture is pretty old and Imjur was having issues with the original so it might be grainy.

That's some crazy good work right there. Whoever your guy is has some talent

I just looked at it on my laptop, pic is awful. Ill try to find a clear one.

I wouldn’t think this is the demographic for tattoos. Maybe a poll of those with grown children. Do they have tatoos?
idk - most of my crew fell for the 90s wire/tribal bands ,,,,,,,,,,,

I got this big tribal/celtic knot thingy on my back about 25-30 years ago. I'm neither proud of nor regret it. Most of the time I forget it is there. If I were to do it again, I'd probably put more thought into it. I literally walked into a tattoo shop with a buddy, looked at a bunch of designs, and found one I thought looked cool. I was in the chair ten minutes later.
Sup man.... :)

Not a band ... but, yes. Guilty.

Nope. When I was young, my dad told me that for every tattoo and piercing I got he'd remove one of my testicles. Stuck with me. Still have both.

Never really wanted one, told my daughters when they were in HS, no tatts, no facial piercings and never ride on the back of a motorcycle.

Both out of college now and they still have no tatts..yet.

Woah... that's detailed AF! (y)

I think (what I consider) tasteful/meaningful tattoos can look really great if done right. Just seems that there are so many that are not.

Why do so many (maybe it's just most that I've seen) seem to be skeletons/devils/demons? I saw an absolutely stunning woman with some sort of winged, red eyed, fanged demon emerging from her cleavage. All I could think was I hope she doesn't breast feed a child some day and give it nightmares.

I’m not saying there is anything wrong with that but it isn’t for me. I have a rule. If I think of an idea for a tattoo I wait at least a year. I write it down, take a picture, whatever. If I still want it a year or years later, I’ll consider it.

This is what I did. I actually took about 2-3 years before I finally committed.

Pic

I kind of want to get another one, have some thoughts, but will be a while before I finalize and then sleep on it a while.

That's cool. I like that. Would it be weird if I got one too?

I’m with you. I think most of it is to shock the normies. Some of it is embracing a lifestyle of F it. I’m not sure it’s a life I want to live but I sometimes envy the carefree spirit some people exhibit.

It’s kind of a struggle for me because I don’t like any of that stuff either. I don’t want skulls and death and demons and blood or spiders, I mean who the hell wants a spider? Then you have the trendy, tattoos, right? Tribal, Lionhead, clocks, barbed wire, coy fish….
I’m not religious, so no crosses or anything like that.

I have three, two of which I had done in the mid to late '90's, early aught's and another that I got about nine years ago as a tribute to my Rhodesian Ridgeback while she was still alive.

Nope. No tattoos or piercings. I thought about a tat when I was younger but could never think of something I'd want to look at for the rest if my life.

I had zero at the end of 2022. I have two now.

My wife had 1 (tramp stamp) at the end of 2022. She has 8 now and is working on a sleeve.

We both always wanted to do something but could never quite pull the trigger. Safe to say, we've finally decided to go for it at 46 years old. And we are using high end, quality artists.

No, and my wife and I have both commented several times that it feels like we're the youngest remaining people for whom tattoos were stigmatized. (Not that they should have been stigmatized, just that they sort of were.)
Even neck and face tattoos seem run of the mill these days.

When I lost my daughter, getting a tattoo of her beautiful face was one of the most healing moments for me. I know you also lost your boy. Did you ever think about getting a memorial of him tattooed?
Never really thought about it. Not really my style, so probably wouldn't consider it.

Where is your tattoo?
Left forearm
Cool. Do you have pics?

I have one. It’s a string of Christmas lights around my left ankle. 11 bulbs for the kids. I have a bit of a Christmas light obsession so it made sense. My daughter is a tattoo artist. She’s doing great. And she’s covered in ink. She took me to Chicago where she did a guest spot at a shop. We had a great time. I want her to get a guest spot in Milwaukee if anyone lives near there. She does amerucan traditional mostly.

That’s a great tribute to Riley!

My wife got her first one a couple weeks ago. She has plans for a second. A close friend's wife gave it to her.

My 13 year old daughter has wanted one for a couple of years, but she says she's waiting until her prefrontal cortex fully forms. She's wise beyond her years in many ways, but a 13 yo wanting a tattoo feels wrong. She wants her grandpa's last three heartbeats on her wrist, where you would check someone's pulse. We lost him to covid, a devout catholic who never missed mass. We suspect he caught it taking communion. His priest was so weak from covid that he wasn't able to perform graveside services after Requiem. My daughter had a close connection with her grandpa. He was a good man.

I have none and probably never will. I am friends with a few local artists and have been offered free tattoos on many occasions throughout the years. I have been through too much to tattoo symbols of tragedies on my body, but the death of one of my kids would push me over the edge. I shed tears when alone at the mere thought. GB all of you who have lost a child.

my big thing is that i always want to know the meaning behind tattoos so if you are telling us yours can you say why you got it and what is stands for thank you brohans take that to the bank

This sounds really awesome. We go WAY overboard on Christmas every year and I’ve been considering getting a Christmas tree for probably a decade now but im just not sure what/style/where.

Oh that would be sweet. If you live near Tampa I know a great artist. And she’s fun. You can see here work on Instagram @kattattooer

Tattoo Charlie's
Louisville, KY

One tattoo. Outside part of the right ankle. Pretty indistinguishable at this point although at one time it was some sort of Egyptian-like symbol with an eye in the middle (green like my own :sneaky:)
Most people are surprised when they see that I have a tattoo although truthfully, I don't really think about it much. I was NOT sober when I got it. Was on a road trip with some friends and decided to all get one together. I think we ALL picked each of ours out of a book. I just consider it a constant reminder of the stupidity of youth.

Two or three depending on how you view what I have. One on the outside of my lower leg (kinda like my avatar pic thing here but different colors).

One (or two) on my upper arm (Star Wars Rebel Alliance logo and portion of song lyric below it)

Getting another one (outline of Chicago skyline and my Dad's signature) in the next month or so.

Would like to get one of Saturn, too.

We foster kittens. And while they usually go back to Animal Control for them to adopt out (heartbreaking- espeically the thought of siblings getting split up), my wife found an alum family from my kids' shmancy private school to take both of our two recent kittens.

the college age daughter came with the parents to sell them on taking both (they intended to take only one) and explained they were adopting because they had just lost a beloved cat. the type that's like a dog, greeting you at the door, always wanting to hang out with you- and in it's case, always wanting to be carried around on their shoulder (we have one like that too).

the daughter had a tatoo of their cat riding her shoulder, placed on her shoulder.

lol... typing that out sounds insanely lame, but it was pretty cool. :lmao:

I always wonder how face tattoo guy does in job interviews.
I recently stopped and talked, while our dogs sniffed eachother, a young man with face tattoos. I’m pretty sure that’s the first time it happened. He seemed like a nice enough guy but the tatts included tear drops. Based on some rumors I’ve heard, maybe he’s not that nice.

The only thing that I've considered for a tat is the Chinese character for blessed. But Mrs. Servo vetoed that idea saying people on blood thinners probably shouldn't get tats.

So was it just the cat on her shoulder or it was the cat on her shoulder on her shoulder.....seems like the first would be better

30 years ago I would have believed the tat was earned, now I'm skeptical when I see one.

I’d say he was early to mid 30s of age - so you may be right. I mean he had a pit bull (my town has more than “normal” and most are super sweet) and was dressed the part, but was super nice and super polite. His dog was super sweet as well.

You never know about people, look at the Gilgo suspect. There are celebrities with them that claim they mean sorrow. Not that famous people haven't done things they weren't supposed to do, Aaron Hernandez. I try to be nice to people unless they give me a reason otherwise.
