Whats the best league management site? (1 Viewer)

Mr. Chumley

Footballguy
Not sure if I'm in the right forum for this or not but I am looking for opinions on some of the better sites. Our league has been using Yahoo for years and we don't really have much experience with any other sites.

Can you guys offer any suggestions? A big point with our league is that Yahoo will not let us set priorities or a waiting period for free agents. Some guys want the teams at the bottom to have first shot on FA. I'm not talking about waiver wire; I'm talking about free agents.

TIA

I am the Commish of a CBSSportline league. We have used it for four years and I have no problems with it. It is easy to customize and keeps track of past years. I guess it is just a preference for everyone.

I recently joined a MFL League (myfantasyleague.com) and it apears to be good too. I personally would choose CBS over it though. I guess i'm just so used to it.

If you want something really different for FA you should take a look at scoresheet.com I'm in a leauge there, and it uses each week of FA like a draft. Every team submits a list of up to 10 players, worse record gets first choice. It is a bit different, I didn't like it a first, but it has grown on me.

have used MFL for years and it has been great. very customizable and many canned items (like web-skins, reports, etc...) Also, every year of your league is online and accessible, so you can go back in history if you want. Very easy to copy one year's league to the next which is useful in dynasty formats, but also great in re-drafts since all the roster, lineups, scoring, etc... rules automatically copy into the new league. they are also open for suggestions and have great customer assistance if needed.

Try using the "Search" function located in the upper-right of the forum page. There are a bunch of threads on this topic, and should contain helpful information.

Oh oh.

:tfp:

We've used mfl.com for a long time, and it's been a top notch service at a very good to reasonable price. They are always upgrading & its available year 'round.

I wouldn't even think of going somewhere else unless they jack their prices too high - say 75% of CBSSportsline.com or more - and then I'd have to do a ton of research to see who else could accomodate a very complex scoring system & blind bid waivers like we have, year 'round, with a completely committed dedication to customer service.

What is this blind bid waivers you are refering to?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It is a method of FA.Typically in my leagues you get $100 FA money at the beginning of the year. Each week from Tuesday morning until Thursday afternoon everyone submits blind bids on the players they want.

Those get processed on Thursday and then First Come First Serve starts on any other players people may want (usually at the cost of 1 or 2 FA bucks).

http://www.rtsports.com/ Very good site!

MFL is better than any other service i have seen and it is cheaper.

in the past it was not as slick as some other sites like CBS but they have gone to great lengths to improve this plus you can completely customize it which is nice.

We have been using fanball for about 2 or 3 years, and everyone likes it.

The core functions of the league-management tools at Fanball are good, and it is cheap.Their Live Draft Room in the summer has been iffy in the past.

Their Live Scoring last year was an absolute joke for most of last season.

Don't know if AOL will be offering the Fanball product this season, but they did last year. It was basically Fanball's software and features, only for free. Just FYI. You can PM bigalgreek(?) if he's still around. . .

I have used both CBS and Fanball. In my opinion CBS is WAY overpriced, especially if you are going from a free site like Yahoo. I think the only reason my league remains there is inertia (we've had the league there since back in the day when they offered the service for free).Fanball is a decent site. I'm in two leagues there, one dynasty and one redraft. My biggest complaint with their service is that their live scoring either crashes or gets royally screwed up for the first month or so of the season and it happens EVERY year. From all of the complaining they get over this on their user forums, I would expect them to get the kinks worked out during preseason and add some extra bandwidth, but they don't.

My dynasty league looked into xpertsports last year before deciding to go with Fanball, but when the commish sent a question to their user support he never received a reply.

What are the difference in prices between all these sites?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I know some of them have discounts for early signups and returning customers. Probably best to actually visit the sites for updated pricing.myfantasyleague.com

Standard Leagues

$69.95 per league if ordered by June 15, 2006

$79.95 per league if ordered by July 31, 2006

$89.95 per league if ordered on or after August 1, 2006

Deluxe Leagues

$139.90 per league if ordered by June 15, 2006

$159.90 per league if ordered by July 31, 2006

$179.90 per league if ordered on or after August 1, 2006

Primary difference between standard and deluxe leagues is the ability to have multipe instances of each player in different divisions or conferences. They are true copies in the respect that they can have different values for things such as salaries for each instance of a player. In a standard league you can also have the same players on multiple teams but you can not seperate them on a conference or division level and common attributes like salaries are always the same.

CBS Sportline

$129.95 if you are a returning customer and prepay now.

$149.95 is the normal price

RTS Sports

Gold: $89.95 per league for up to 30 teams.

Platinum: $149.95 per league for up to 50 teams.

Never used it, so I have no idea what else might distinguish the gold and platinum packages other than the number of teams.

Fanball

Don't see the 2006 pricing listed yet, but if memory serves it wa approx $60 last year and the price was fairly steady for th last several years.

Fanstar

$89

xpertsports

Could not find a price on their site. It's probably buried in there somewhere.

The rest you'll have to look up yourself. ;)

I would love to recommend MFL because I like the site functionality quite a bit. However, I have had some very disruptive problems with the site, particularly with emails such as league notifications and trade proposals, and customer service has not done anything to help. If these problems weren't such a pain the neck or if their customer service was better, it would be easier to overlook. Unfortunately that is not the case.

I have also used CBS and RTS several times and I like both sites. CBS is over-priced, though, and RTS does not support dynasty leagues at this time. If RTS keeps its price competitive, begins to support dynasty leagues and the problems with MFL persist, I am going to move my leagues to RTS next year.

Not only is CBS Sportsline WAY overpriced, but the information and the guys who are giving predictions and insights are terrible..

Mike Fabiano is an idiot. he is wrong 99.9% of the time with everything he says about football. Dave Richard is only slightly better.

not only that, but the player-by-player info is often outdated and useless..sure there's well over 1,000 players in the NFL, but CBS as made no effort over the years to increase their staff to provide a better service to customers , i.e., more up-to-date QUALITY information...

you're better off going with MFL at a cheaper rate and listening to LHUCKS

:goodposting: I forgot about the poor analysis they have there (since it's been so long since I even thought about using it). Though from the way some of my league-mates run their teams, I'm not sure if they caught on to this yet.

Our league has used MFL for a while and other than the annual server meltdown the first week of the season, everything else is what we're looking for. Very effecient customer service, a reasonable price for the league and 100% customization option are what keep us coming back.

League website is my signature...

last year xpertsports was 69.95 after July 15th. I haven't heard of any price changes.

That's the only thing that might come close to justifying the high price - the comic relief that they call FF advice. Normally you'd pay a $20 ticket or more for comedy of that high caliber for each time you go. For CBS's price, you get the outrageaous laughs all season long. That's almost a bargain.

I would recommend Fanball or MyFantasyLeague

with Fanball, if you're gonna use the Live Draft Room, try to do it before the last week of the season, as it gets hit hard that last week and will slow down quite a bit.

Both services have had some live scoring/bandwidth issues during the first week or two of the season, but are usually fine after that. Probably all the people setting up freebee leagues that then leave.

But both are fairly easy to use, customizable (MFL wins the prize here for layout flexibility), and are around all year long for dynasty purposes.

Hey guys, just a FYI that our price is actually $59.95 before July 15th and $79.95 after. That's listed on our home page, and I've added it to our overview page as well.

Also, to brewerjoe, I'm not sure what happened last year in getting back in touch with your commish. We take alot of pride in prompt customer support so my guess is we answered his question, some times when people don't get our responses it's because their ISP was a little overzealous and diverted our email into a spam or junk folder. We've added a phone number to our support page this year to aid anyone that is having trouble getting in touch with us.

AOL Worked for me. Just like Fanball but $60 cheaper. However I don't think they will offer it free. It's just like crack. Offer it free the first time then after that they have to pay.

I've used Yahoo, CBS Sportsline, Foxsports, and ESPN in the past, and I can tell you that I like My Fantasy League the best.
