With camp ending soon, Moss will have missed almost all of it. "It's frustrating for him, it's frustrating for us," said Coughlin. "That's a very disappointing phase of training camp, to not have him out there. I don't think there was ever any question about his seriousness, his focus and his intent. This is a real injury that has prevailed far longer than anybody ever thought and, quite frankly, is a confusing issue for me to try to explain in terms of exactly what it is."

Q: Any new news on [sinorace] Moss or [Carlos] Emmons?

A: No. Not that I can tell you

(He commented on Emmons both days before this so I don't think it was a reply to that part of the Q)

I am getting a worried about Moss and his quad. The Giants had big plans for him this season but with this injury keeping him out of practice I don’t think he is going to contribute too much this season.

I hope that Tim Carter can stay healthy this year because he is having an outstanding camp/preseason. If he stays healthy then the lack of production from Moss won’t hurt so much.

A few things..

- Moss tweaked his hammy and I think Coughlin is just being smart and DEFINITELY on the cautious side.

- Tim Carter is playing very well and Coughlin probably wants to get a long look at him without rushing Moss back.

- IIRC, Moss was always dinged up or slowed by nagging injuries at the U.

- With Carter's inability to stay healthy in the past, maybe Coughlin is pushing him a bit harder to see if he'll hold up, how much has he improved going into this season and if he's ready and able to be the No. 3.

If Carter and Moss are both healthy this year, then the Giants have a serious set of weapons for Eli considering the SPEED of Carter and the elusiveness of Moss as inside/slot WRs.

With Tiki, Shockey, Burress and Toomer, they definitely have the weapons to give defensive coordinators heartburn.

Just a hunch, but I think we'll see more of Moss in the 3rd/4th preseason games.

I had high hopes for Moss as the WR3 for the Giants. He is capable of some big plays. Hopefully he'll be ready to go by season's start.

update from bbwc

WR Sinorice Moss (quad) was expected to return to practice today, but apparently has suffered yet another setback and will not practice. "The problem is that each time he pushed himself to the point where it's a sprint situation and you would like to be able to think that he can do that on a daily basis, which is what he has to do to play his position, he comes back from a very good workout and has soreness the next day," Coughlin said. "Therefore, he can't repeat the workout. Until he can sprint, and do it consistently, they're not going to give him clearance."

Q: So we should not expect Moss on Sunday?

A: No. And that’s probably the fifth or sixth time that … that’s why it’s difficult for me to answer your questions when I’ve answered you that I expected him, and I’d been told that we could expect him to practice. I probably have told you that four times this fall and it hasn’t been the case. At this point in time, I’m pretty much going to wait until he’s out there.

Q: What exactly is the situation with the muscle? Is there some kind of weakness in there, or is there bleeding? What is preventing him from actually going out there to work?

A: That part of it has all been removed. The problem is that each time he pushed himself to the point where it’s a sprint situation and you would like to be able to think that he can do that on a daily basis, which is what he has to do to play his position, he comes back from a very good workout and has soreness the next day. Therefore, he can’t repeat the workout. Until he can sprint, and do it consistently, they’re not going to give him clearance.

Q: Have you given up hope for having him on opening day?

A: No, I’m not giving up anything.

bleeding hammy? huh?

Before he hurt his quad early in camp, Moss looked outstandingly quick, and the word was the Giants were working on a number of plays to feature him.

Since then he has not practiced and the oft injured Tim Carter has look very good in the #3 role.

I expect that Moss' future is still bright as at worst a great slot guy with a ceiling as a very good starter but I think that the extended injury time during training camp has reduced his role for this season... until Carter gets hurt again.
