The first few weeks he was better than last year. Over the last 4 or 5 weeks, he's been average to bad (today being the nadir). It's a function of a few things:
1. Bad decisions. He's thrown some balls that never should've been thrown, some he's gotten away with and some that got picked.
2. They've only gotten the running game going in the past couple of games, and today Turner only played 1.5 quarters. Seems like he's pressing a little as a result.
3. This is the biggest issue. If I remember right, the Falcons gave up the fewest sacks in the league last year. This year, Ryan has guys in his face almost every dropback. For whatever reason, the OL isn't keeping him clean like they did last year. Maybe also a result of the weaker running game, maybe because they're playing better defenses, maybe just one of those things that happens. In any case, he's been uncomfortable in the pocket for a few weeks in a row.
This is easily the worst stretch of his young career, but having watched every single one of his regular season games, I have no doubt he'll be the best in the league in a few years. He's a young QB still learning how to do the job, but he's got everything needed for success.
