Whats your favorite league and what makes it so special (1 Viewer)

Phenoms "deep" leagues, with 2QB, 2Flex, 3WR, TE eligible for flex, 2 DEF, etc. The scarcity at QB, TE, and DEF makes even players like Chad Henne interesting...well, sorta.

PPR/IDP preferred. Would like todo a 2qb dynasty someday, seems like that dynamic really changes the startup, seeing dudes like Eli/Flacco going in the 3rd/4th rounds.

Post you favorite league (and who runs it if you want) and what makes it so special.
My Fav is a local redraft/auction league.

We have to draft 2 qbs, 2 tes, 2 def, 2 k's and a combination of 7 rb's/te's so always have good players on the waiver wire. We only do add/drops every 2 weeks where we all meet up at a buffalo wild wings for a few beers and talk trash. Plus its a 200$ fee that gives weekly money for the top 3 scorers. Its a nice change since i am in about 10 dynasty leagues with people all over the country i dont know....

My one and only dynasty baseball league, "The Dirty Dozen", which is a 12 team league that has been in existence over a decade. No draft after initial draft. Thirty-four man rosters, start 13 position (C,1B,2B,3B,SS,MI,CI,OF,OF,OF,OF,DH,DH) and 9 pitchers, 3 of which must be SP. Can roster any minor league player you want as long as they aren't on another roster. The roster limits makes it very hard to decide on keeping prospects and still stay competitive in the current season. Teams who didn't make the playoffs last year can roster 36 in-season or 38 off-season. I've won this league the last 2 years in a row and have a total of 3 titles, one of which is shared with another team, but I'm struggling to make the playoffs this year and I'm on the outside looking in right now.

My 16-team, IDP league where players have salaries consisting of base pay and bonuses. We only draft rookies and all other FAs are bid on in an auction process...

Phenoms "deep" leagues
Yeah, the draft is the most fun for me so the auction-n-go leagues over at Phenoms are great because you can play in several without adding the time suck over the season/holidays having to manage them all.

In particular I enjoyed the IOTA 200 league there that is IDP, auction, and very deep. The only drawback is that those three qualities scare a lot of people away, unfortunately. When you have (14 teams X 50 man rosters) = 700 players deep a lot of people get spooked at the challenge of filling a roster. It's great because you only have to check in with the auction a couple of times a day and you aren't holding anything up like you do with snake drafts. The best part imo is the auction is slow and takes place through the entire training camp and preseason so values go up and down every day based on new information. The worst part is it takes so long to actually fill that league, I've been bumping it to no avail in the "Looking for Leagues" forum. Given the hours of entertainment for the $ it's a great value and one of the most challenging leagues I've ever been in. If anyone thinks they are up the challenge I encourage them to check it out "IOTA 200"...

Scoring system is setup different from any league I've seen (made to look like real NFL scores)
I really like that idea. I assume you use decimal scoring?

My ideal league would be a TD league where yardage is scaled WAYYY back and used mostly as a decimal tie breaker. I've toyed with the idea of starting a league like that where TD's and TO's truly decide the outcome of games... more like the real NFL imo.

Been doing an auction, partial keeper 10 teamer for 19 years. Almost all the same original guys. We hold a live auction and all of us married guys gets a 3 day weekend to hang out, have a few beverages, and reminisce. The league itself is fun but the real draw is the tradition and the bonds.

We were all single and in our 20s when the league formed, but now nearly everyone is married and has kids. Our owners all used to be centrally located, but now guys come in from all over for the weekend. Kind of nice to have a league to look forward to every year.

10-team 6-keeper league with starting lineups of 2 QB, 6 Flex, 1 K, 1 Def. Basically TD only but if you have more passing yards than your opponent you get a 5 point bonus and there's an 8 point bonus for having more rushing or receiving yards. The rule I like most is the points your defense gives up that week is subtracted from your score. We had a team win a week with -3 points last season.

We're spread out all over the country so each year we go somewhere for the draft and it's always a great weekend.

In terms of drafts I'm having the most fun in the 2 QB/K/Def leagues with 10 teams because it is a nice break from the wait-on-qb until the middle rounds, take K/def at the end of the draft formula that 99% of leagues tend to have. Again, it's a draft-n-go best-ball so there is no time invested once the season starts. It's also pretty deep(30 players) so you get a lot of hours of entertainment for your fifty bucks with a slow draft.

If anyone is looking for something out of the usual rut we're trying to fill "phenoms Psi - 43" right now over at MFL.

My favorite league is great just because it is 12 years old and full of good friends. It's competitive and fun. Everyone takes it serious, but never too serious.

Local league with college friends. Heading into year 18, with this being my 15th year. League has grown and contracted numerous times (low of 8 teams and high of 16 one year). 1QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1K, Def. Draft being the best part. We choose each pick out of the league trophy starting with Mr. Irrelevant and going up to first overall- draw takes about 45-60 minutes but fun as hell.

My league I've commished since 2001 is my favorite. Dynasty 16 team IDP. We have a twist that I don't know if any other league has whereby we subtract our defensive players' totals from our opponents lineup and vice versa. We wanted a league where defense made an impact. Essentially our IDP pts count twice, once as part of your teams' total and then taking away from your opponent. Our scoring system is balanced to reflect the 'doubling' of the IDP. For example, you know that a 10 ppg LB is worth the same as a 20 ppg RB.

HAFA leagues 16 team IDP with a Franchise player and RFA process before a free agent auction. Then a rookie draft that allows a 4 year salary contract (first year free).

My brother has always thought that would be a good idea... My longest running league, which had been a TD-only league, is changing the scoring this year. It uses team defenses, but most of the scoring is now set to take away points from your total...
