Wheelhouse -Interesting Stats, Info and Tidbits

Week 2

1. 128.7 QB Rating - Holy Cow!! - Yes, that's Rex Grossman.

He's 38 for 53 for 551 yards, 5 TD, 1 INT and only 1 sack. However, he's only played Green Bay and Detroit so far.

Grossman has only attempted 4 passes this season when the Bears did not have the lead. For him to have those stats with a lead is impressive.

3. See you at the bottom of the pile - QB's sacked most

Team in Blue is week 3 opponent

ARI, WAS, TEN, NYG, SEA and HOU should all be fairly good defensive plays week 3. It's interesting how they each play each other. ;)

9 Carr vs. WAS

*8 A. Walter Bye

8 Hasselbeck vs. NYG

8 E. Manning at SEA

6 Brunell at HOU

* Oakland has given up 15 sacks in 2 games so far this season (against SD and BAL) Two very stingy defenses, but still, 15 sacks?!? Week 3 is a bye for Oakland, but don't look now, Cleveland is licking their chops for week 4.

4. The Wow! Stat of the week - Donovan McNabb, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning each have 51 completions over the first two games. The Raiders as a team have only 18. :X

5. The quietest, surprise among QB's so far - David Carr

Not taking into effect the 9 sacks on him this year, David Carr is 40 for 53 (75.5% completion) for 427 yards and 4 TD's with 0 INT's.

11. Can you believe it? The Jets have 2 WR's averaging 93+ yards receiving per game.

The only other team that is averaging that is Indianapolis with Harrison (120.0) and Wayne (101.0)

15. Impressive stat of the week- The Bears defense has faced 20 3rd downs so far this year. They have only allowed their opponent to convert two of them! Compare that to Houston's 25 3rd downs faced on defense and 17 that were converted to first downs.

16. And yet, they still won - The Vikings managed a win against Carolina last week despite only converting 2 of 15 3rd downs.

17. Stingy! - Baltimore, Denver and Atlanta have not allowed a TD yet this season.

18. Swiss cheese - Houston has allowed 6 receiving TD's and Indianapolis has allowed 5.

19. Can't get in - Oakland and Tampa Bay have yet to score a TD

20. No FG's so far - TEN and PIT have yet to make FG.

Wheelhouse, I gotta give you props man. I love reading your threads every week.

1 thing though and I may be reading it wrong but shouldn't the above be 29 x 8 ?

Just curious. Keep up the good work.

outstanding work as always, wheelhouse...

i value your perspective & almost always find multiple interesting things in these running threads...

i thought it was cool that there was a mention of an r. williams in top WR stats section... & it was reggie & not roy... :)

Wheelhouse,

Nothing makes me happier than to wake up in the morning and see this post. Hopefully you'll have time to keep 'em coming all year -- always great stuff!

Interesting stat I heard on the radio the other day:

The Texans were the last place defense through the first two weeks of the season, having played the Eagles and the Colts.

Who was the 31st ranked defense? The New York Giants, who played... the Eagles and the Colts.
