LJ...of course. Most mags are sooo unoriginal when it comes to their covers. I'd like to see Big Ben on FBG's....lending credence to his top 4 ranking.

To pass the time I found a USA Today Special Edition NFL Forecast 06 in my local supermarket. It was only $5 and had a small fantasy section, pages on each team breaking down the offense, defense, draft picks, and articles on free agent movement. When there isn't much out on the way of reading material until the mags come out it was worth the $5.

You've got to be able to ship it up north... I've been hooked here since the beginning of the year... your [DYNASTY] coverage/threads are second to none... now please, don't make me go to Vermont just so I can buy it... 
thank Mike Anderson aka Drugrunner for thata couple years ago Mike singlehandedly strung threads together with write ups on players (long term), and linked threads w/Dynasty League drafts like my Misfits and Outlaws group so that guys had at least alittle dynasty FF info to roll with
and today, the Dynasty info is, as you say...2nd to none
for all those that "don't buy those rags"...
...buy the mag and support the cause...

You are telling me. I have three 'draft' special mag's all worn out in my bathroom right now. Of course the Footballguys mag never makes it into the bathroom though.....

I just picked up Pro Football Weekly's 2006 Preview....good read and the first mag I've seen out. They have Manning , LJ and TO as the #1 rated player at their positions but their focus isn't fantasy just football, real players rankings (top 50), Top 20-30 players at each position and predictions. Here's their predictions:

every year, i go and buy one mag during the first week of june "early mag" period, & get index mailed to me. i've added FBG mag to the mix & that's more than enough summer fantasy mag entertainment reading. obviously, the site is the far better source, but i enjoy carrying around mags to the john, beach, etc.
many of my competitors use the Index cheat sheet updates as draft guides, so i like to have that bit of market research.
so far, i've only seen one other drafter carry in the VBD excel sheet to a draft that i've been a participant in.

Any guesses as to who the "King of the cool-aide" FFI player will be this year?If my mind serves me correct it was Rod Smith two years ago, Tadum Bell Last year. It seems like they have at least one every year.
Edit because I can't spell Tadum on the first try.

BUMP. They seem to be coming out earlier and earlier each year. With one round of mini-camps either in progress or behind us, I figure in 3 weeks we'll see the first mag hit the stands.
I know this site and others give us a WORLD more current and accurate updates, but I have to tell you I still buy probably 3 - 5 NFL preview mags each year, just for the hell of it and as the original poster said...for bathroom reading material.

I can't get footballguys.com to work on my toilet. It's good reading material to help you fall asleep too. I love in the race to get the mags out 'first' that they report on stuff that is entirely outdated by the time it hits newsstands. June 1st cuts etc...not even taken into account.

Can you get more current information online? Absolutely, but some of us still enjoy having a more leisurely and portable reading source for the hobby we love.

Magazines (including ours) are heading to print shortly and IIRC they come out first week of July.I don't recall when the advance sales are for FBG magazine, but I do remember several bonuses for ordering it that way.It was also painfully hard to find in several areas of the US so this is my favorite option.

I remember getting footballoutsiders' Pro Football Prospectus in July sometime last year. Now they just have 2007's issue marked as "Coming Soon"

Actually they can be of some use if they have some decent interviews. A few years ago when Plumber has his best year in Denver there was an interview in one of them that described how he spent the entire off season working with Kubiak on not throwing interceptions.Its the little tid bits you get by reading player off season activities and the coaching changes that really help to identify the sleepers. The general team review stuff is pretty worthless. Another example was the year Javon Walker had off season Lasic surgery. That was the year he ran wild.

I do.I take the train to work and enjoy reading it then. Plus, I do a shark tournament in late June out of Montauk every year and I always bring as many mags as I can find for the boat. Sure, the computer is great. But I remember when I first started I would always buy the Streets & Smith magazine first for the cool color photographs and interesting articles. I still get that mag as soon as it comes out and I buy about 5 0r 6 other magazines as well. Just can't get enough football bro.Who reads FF magazines anymore?

That is most of their analysis in past years. I guess from a publishing standpoint it's better to be first on the shelves for all the football junkies than to wait and provide more thorough coverage.Similar threads
