When does the flexible scheduling start? (1 Viewer)

I seem to recall something about flexible scheduling and crappy games. Doesn't this week count? The skins are terrible. This game will be turned off by 9:30 by thousands.

Why wasn't this game switched out?

They do not flex MNF games.

I it Sunday night games they flex?
Yup, NBC gets to pick for the last X amount of weeks. Off hand I do not know when that happens. I would guess 11-17 as the byes are over then. It usually coincides when the Thursday night games start, FWIW.

I don't see any games being flexed except maybe Minnesota vs. Carolina or Dallas vs. Washington. Given the Favre hype throughout the year, and anything Cowboys gets ratings - those games aren't going to be flexed, either.

Flex games are used to get rid of the "terrible" games, not to put the best possible matchup each week.

NFL Flexible Scheduling 101

* Begins Sunday of Week 11

* In effect during Weeks 11-17

* Only Sunday afternoon games are subject to being moved into the Sunday night window.

* The game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday night during flex weeks will be listed at 8:15 p.m. ET.

* The majority of games on Sundays will be listed at 1:00 p.m. ET during flex weeks except for games played in Pacific or Mountain Time zones which will be listed at 4:05 or 4:15 p.m. ET.

* No impact on Thursday, Saturday or Monday night games.

* The NFL will decide (after consultation with CBS, FOX, NBC) and announce as early as possible the game being played at 8:15 p.m. ET. The announcement will come no later than 12 days prior to the game. The NFL may also announce games moving to 4:05 p.m. ET and 4:15 p.m. ET.

* Week 17 start time changes could be decided on 6 days notice to ensure a game with playoff implications.

* The NBC Sunday night time slot in "flex" weeks will list the game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday night.

* Fans and ticket holders must be aware that NFL games in flex weeks are subject to change 12 days in advance (6 days in Week 17) and should plan accordingly.

* NFL schedules all games.

* Teams will be informed as soon as they are no longer under consideration or eligible for a move to Sunday night

I could see them swapping out the Patriots vs. Dolphins game. Especially if Miami loses a few more. Of course, those two teams always put on a show in prime time, so maybe not.

As has been said, flex isn't an option. But even if it were, I don't think this game would qualify. Division rivalries are generally worth watching, and NFC East rivalries usually fare well on national TV b/c of the strong media markets they play into and the long-standing histories of tight games.

The Packers-Vikings game on Sunday was recently moved from a noon CST kickoff to 3:15 - kind of sucks for those of us with a two hour drive to Lambeau but its better than being moved to Sunday night.

One of those two will get bumped. The rest are probably going to stay put.

I think they ended up swapping that game with the Eagles/Giants game since there was a potential for the Phillies to host a WS game that evening. They wanted to give the fans, police and security enough time between games. Although I'm sure the NFL had no problem bumping the Favre/Packer matchup to 3:15 :coffee:

Why is there no Sunday night game for this upcoming weekend, week 8?
World Series
No, really. Why?
I don't know which year it started, but the NFL probably as much out of courtesy, allows MLB to have the Sunday night World Series stage to itself. Television is the reason why the World Series has a hard start date and schedule with only the teams mattering.Edit here is link that has the correct answer

baseball is going to have to push their season back soon and cut short spring training by 2 weeks or more. They just get murdered by the NFL and NCAA once they start up. All these thurs/fri/sat/sun games slaughter local mlb in most markets. This won't change this grave injustice as the world series will most likely get pushed to the very start of October.

From an NFL fan perspective you would think so...but there are a lot of DAL/WAS fans....and would NBC really give up a Favre game?I don't see NBC making any changes.

I believe the WS is on Fox. Either way, this is an every year occurrence, not just this year.I  about it every season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they have SNF in week 17. I don't remember them having one last year. They are all played at 1 and 4.

here's a game that should be bumped from national TV: san diego vs. tennessee on xmas night. phil rivers will throw for 400 and it will be 35-0 at the half. awful.

i hate the decision to not show a game against the world series. i'd rather watch a bad nfl game than the world series.

I live to fight another week :wub:The only major byes left are Owen Daniels and Bernard Berrian. I am more worried about Daniels.
That's great to hear Nick!!! We've been waiting all day to find out about it. But next time could you just email us instead of posting in every thread we might or might not be reading?TIAYea Nick!!!!!!!!!
