When is the last time a player won an appeal? (1 Viewer)

It seems like most players who are banned for 4 games or 1 season based upon testing positive for a banned substance appeal. Then, they either withdraw the appeal or the suspension is otherwise upheld.

When is the last time a player appealed, pursued the appeal to the end, and won the appeal?

There was a LB from New Orleans that was originally tabbed to have a four game suspension for missing a drug test while on vacation. (I forget who it was but I believe it was last year.) He appealed and was not suspended. Not sure if that is the same as testing positive and winning an appeal though.

This is a tough one. The results of drug testing are supposed to be confidential and no announcement is made until after a player is suspended/finishes their appeal process. Now, in reality we often here of players being suspended prior to their appeal (as is the case with Ricky Williams this year). I would speculate that if a lower level player is given a suspension, appeals, and wins their appeal it would probably never make it into the news. So, I don't think it is really possible to answer your question.

He will not win. even Ricky's lawyer made a statement on how hard it really is to overturn a drug test.

Didn't Bill Romanowski win an appeal? No no...that's right.....he got his wife to get him prescription drugs on fake prescriptions to take the edge off his 'roid rage.

Not just thinking of Ricky, who is almost an afterthought. I will start an offshoot thread.
