When to Project Stats (1 Viewer)

Over the years I've come to the conclusion that you should hold off on projections until the middle of August after a couple of pre-season games. This allows you time to fully evaluate playing time, change in offensive philosophies, players health, the impact of free agents etc... Our league typical holds draft the Wednesday before the NFL opener on Thursday so we still have plenty of time. One example this year is R Bush and Mcallister. Its a pue gues at this pointor both until you have something to base your proojections off which is the preseason games. So the players spotlights are premature at this point for some players.

What are your thougths and when do you start projecting...

Never too early. Unless you're chiseling your projections in to slabs of granite, you can always make changes.

If I wait until mid-August, I'm going to end up locking myself in my room trying to get everything done.

:goodposting: i typically do my first run in may. i then tweak them with offseason moves and depth chart changes.

this way when mid august rolls around instead of starting from scratch, i can make whatever small changes are necessary and work more on draft strategy than where i am ranking players.

I think it's a good idea to get your first set done BEFORE the preseason games start. All those games do is give you a very small sample set that represents little of what will actually happen. I think tweaking projections during the preseason makes them worse, except in the case of injuries.

That being said, I'm scrambling to finish before the Hall of Fame game.

I think I do it differently than most people. I don't start actual projections until a week before the draft. But from the moment training camp starts I start jotting notes down in a notebook. For instance when Bentley got hurt, I wrote that down under my entry For Reuben Droughns and Charlie Frye. When I go to make my projections, it actually goes pretty quick and I have a bunch of reminders while I'm working them out.
