When we colonize the moon or Mars... (1 Viewer)

TheIronSheik

SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
If history teaches us anything, it's that these colonies will eventually break free from us and become their own countries, right?  And if so, do we go to war with these colonies to try to take them back?

Just trying to figure out how soon we'll be seeing TIE Fighters being developed.

More importantly, how do we stop the illegal aliens from Jupiter from sneaking into those colonies?

Way things are at the moment not so sure I would blame them....

This is exactly why we need the US Space Force
We really need to up the speed of our space ships.  It'll be weird when Mars declares its independence and we retaliate by sending a ship that will take 9 months to get there.  People may not even remember why we sent the ships by then.

Would the United Nations include countries on other planets?  Or does each planet get a UN.  Then we have a Galactic Federation for planets?

Probably something like the plot line of The Expanse.
Yup.  Earther, Belter, or Duster?

Ceres was once covered in ice. Enough water for 1,000s of generations. Until Earth and Mars stripped it away for themselves. This station became the most vital port in the Belt. But, the immense wealth and resources that flow through our gates were never meant for us. Belters work the docks, loading and unloading precious cargo. We fix the pipes and filters that keep this rock living and breathing. We Belters toil and suffer, without hope and without end. And for what? One day, Mars will use its might to wrest control of Ceres from Earth, and Earth will go to war to take it back. It's all the same to us. No matter who controls Ceres, our home, to them, we will always be slaves. That's all we are to the Earthers and Dusters. They built their solar system on our backs, spilled the blood of a million of our brothers. But in their eyes, we're not even human anymore. So, the next time you look in the mirror, say the word. Slave.

We seriously couldn't allow that to happen.

So we'd just nuke them.

I keep reading colonize as something we'll do to Uranus instead.

I know that's an awful, tired, sophomoric joke, but colons are running my day here, people.  I can't even get away from them in The Beatles thread.

Would you tell me please, Mr. Howard, why should I trade one tyrant thirty million miles away for thirty million tyrants one mile away?
