When you have to start 2 QBs (1 Viewer)

Hello all,

I am fairly new to this board, not to the site though. Love the insight and enthusiasm of everyone here.

My topic is if you are in a league that starts 2QBs per week (10 team league), how does that affect the QB value overall?

More specifically, what does it do to the top QB...Peyton.

My thought process is it pushes Peyton up to a top 5 pick, right after Barber.

Durable, check. Consistent, check. Increased passing this year due to the loss of Edge, check.

No clue without a scoring system, or what other positions you have to start, or league size.
10 team league.Start 2 QBs, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 Flex, 1 TE4 pts. for passing TD....6 for rushing receiving...1/2 point per reception.....1 point per 20 passing, 1 per 10 rushing/receiving.Thanks. I guess I was trying to make it more general as opposed to just my league.

Obviously this makes QBs more important overall, but IMO Manning is going too high in most drafts this year regardless. People still have visions of 04 dancing in their heads but the odds of 40+ TDs from even him again are real slim. I would however definitely put emphasis on getting 2 top QBs (not necessary the very top though - just don't get one good one and then somebody like Kitna or Carr).

With your system, I'd take Peyton right after LJ, LT and Alexander.
I wouldn't. At best he's a mid second rounder. Much bigger separation from the top backs to the 2nd tier than from the top QBs to the 2nd tier. A little less for WRs, but still more than QBs. Even starting 2 QBs you can wait until round 3 or 4 and still get 2 quality starters.

 Exactly what I would do.Our ten team league has always used 2 QBs and there is a huge dropoff after Peyton, just like there's a huge dropoff after the top 3 RBs.

In Zealots Typhon leauge, its close to the same starting requirements:Start 2 QBs, 3 RB, 4 WR, 2 TEAnd Manning hasn't made it out of the first round yet. High of 4, low of 10.

If Passing TDs were 6, I'd say first round.

As is, at 4 / TD, 2nd round material.

And be sure to be the first team at the draft with 3 QBs.

In other years, I'd agree with you, but considering Palmer's recovery, CPep's recovery, McNabb's below average WR corps, etc. There's Peyton, then there's a cluster. Considering Tiki's age (I know, but at some point it will be a factor), Portis's injury, the risk involved with the other RBs, I'll take Peyton.FWIW, we did a redraft last night and Peyton went #2. 6 pts per TD. A bit of a reach, but not horrible.

Just drop your scoring system into the VBD Excel application and see. In my 2-QB league, the top 10 are

1 LJ

2 LT

3 SA

4 Tiki

5 SJax

6 Rudi

7 Ronnie Brown

8 PEYTON

9 Reggie Bush

10 Cadillac

We have a high weighting on pass receptions, which pushes some of the RBs back past Peyton.

I've been in a two team, start 2 QB league going on my sixth year now. Typical FBG performance scoring. Start 2 QB, 2RB, 3 WR/TEs. Peyton is most assuredly a first-rounder, and likely will be picked in top 5.

Anyway, FWIW, I crunched some numbers earlier that you might find helpful. From 2002-2005 (last 4 years), these are the average number of players drafted at each position in my 2 QB league over the first five rounds (cumulatively):

Round 1: 7.25 RB, 2.25 QB, 0.5 WR

Round 2: 13.25 RB, 3.75 QB, 3 WR

Round 3: 16 RB, 8.5 QB, 5.5 WR

Round 4: 18 RB, 12.5 QB, 9.5 WR

Round 5: 20.25 RB, 14.75 QB, 15 WR

What does this tell us? You don't necessarily have to grab an elite QB early, but you really don't wanna wait too long past mid-3rd or 4th round to grab your first QB. You can do fairly well with a guy in the lower top-10 range (Delhomme, Green, Favre) paired with a more mediocre QB, but you do not want to enter your season starting 2 QBs out of, say, Carr, Kitna, Simms, and Rivers.

On the flip side, there's generally some good WR value around Round 3.

And, as always, the true key to a great draft in ANY league in my opinion -- hitting big on the mid- to late-round WRs. I'm currently struggling to identify those guys now for my Monday draft.
