Where Are They Now? (1 Viewer)

Just an FYI: Smith tried to jump-start his professional football career, but was cut by Calgary of the CFL yesterday. He finished this stint with no TDs, five picks and a 16.2 passer rating. Nice guy, but if you wondered what happened to him, well...that's what happened.

Not fantasy-related, but I'm sure some older footballguys remember when he was a phenom at Oregon and supposed to restore some pride to the Bengals.

The dude couldn't hack the CFL? How was Smith any good at Oregon?

Wonder if Smith could go back to the NCAA right now -- hypothetically -- and still tear it up? He must have regressed since Oregon, as opposed to improving or staying the same.

I knew Smith was a blown pick as soon as the Bengals picked him.

One year of success on the major-college level, where he succeeded almost entirely on his physical skills, not game management skills.

The draft is still one of Cincy's weak spots, either through bad luck or questionable picks. Getting little to no production from three of our picks of the 2005 draft (Henry, Pollack and Thurman) and our top pick of the 2004 draft (Perry) has really hurt.

 Especially regarding the '04 -'05 draft

As a Bengal fan, did you consider Palmer a bust when they picked him? (Not picking a fight here) I got in many an argument on these very boards that he was the better QB than Leftwich the year they came out. The reason I ask is because the Leftwich-backers that year always harped on Palmer essentially having only one year of success also.

I remember that argument too about Leftwich and Palmer. I liked Palmer over Leftwich, but I remember that year wanting Terrance Newman. Glad we did what we did. Too bad Weathersby had the luck that he had from that draft.

Do you want regular fries or curley fries wit dat?

Carolina already has a great back up in Testeverde.....but they could always use another has been.
