Where in South America would you move to? (1 Viewer)

Let's say you had boatloads of money, and your family asked to move to somewhere located in South America. Which country/city would you pick and why?

Why South America if you had "boatloads" of money? With that kinda money, not sure South America would be where I'd go.

Right. Was Africa booked?
boatloads of money would go a long way in Zimbabwe
I'm pretty sure you can buy Zimbabwe for $23.

You'd likely get your "boatloads" of money from your long lost Nigerian cousin anyway...right after you wire $2,000 for customs clearing fees.

I'd actually prefer Costa Rica I think. Very progressive environmentally. I believe the oldest democracy in Latin America. Large expat community. And low cost of living.

ive heard belize is super chill.

chili is chill too. i would prolly set up a back country destination ski area in the andies with a tram straight from town for the locals.

For weather: San Jose CR, Guatemala City, Cochabamba Bolivia, Quito and two or three places in Colombia are hard to beat. Eternal springtime.

For safety and security: Chile (most other countries have safety/security problems).

For food: Argentina and Uruguay

For beaches: Brazil and Uruguay

For hot wimmens: Most places do pretty well, but Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina stand out; Brazil just behind.

It's only $16 on Monopoly Africa.

Question. How did some of these folks hypothetically acquire boatloads of money when they don't even know what South America is?

My dad went to Colombia house hunting in November. He is hell bent on moving there in the next couple of years.

Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and potentially Peru I'd move to for the right job if I did not have kids

With boatloads of cash. Brazil in a heartbeat

You may need to recheck your map of SA.

I've been looking into Belize. Seems pretty nice!
Yes. Have you made the geographical arrangement to move it into South America, together with Costa Rica and Guatemala?
:goodposting: lots of Central America/ South America confusion in here.
To be clear when I said CR I knew full well it was Central America that's why I said instead.
Trying to cover your ###, eh? You didn't say "instead". You probably thought Costa Rica is in the Indian Ocean. ;)

I've been to Quito. Not overly impressed. But I hear that down by the ocean is pretty nice.
I was going to say Quito. I like the mountains and mild climate. What didn't you like?
It wasn't that I didn't like it. I enjoyed my time there. But would I pack up all of my things and move there? No.
Me neither. But if by 'down by the ocean' you mean Guyaquil, then you have been misinformed...

Yes indeed. I have heard the description: "If you wanted to give the world an enema, Guayaquil is where you'd insert the tube."

The instead was implied?

I thought wheelbarrows were the standard means of transporting currency down there, not boats.
