I hadn't heard that he was supposed to get extended action.
With Barlow's spot secure, the Jets probably wanted to see more of Washington and Houston so a decision can be made on them.
Barlow will start the year splitting carries, and by week 3 or 4, I'd expect him to be getting a majority of them.
