Where to go on my free vacation (1 Viewer)

Long story short...I'm usually the guy who goes to a sporting event and will sign up one of my buddies for "XXX booth" and I'll grab a free t-shirt or whatever.

They decided they would get revenge on me by signing me up for a vacation services booth...turns out that I ended up winning a 4 day, 3 night vacation to either San Juan, Montego Bay, or Cancun. Service pays for flight and hotel (not all inclusive). I am responsible for paying a travel fee/taxes of about $150. I have up to one year to redeem. Spoke with the lady for about a half hour just to confirm it wasn't all a giant scam.

So here is the question...which of the places do I decide to go?

Basic information:

- i'll be bringing my buddy Joe

- two single guys - 29 years old

- both like to party but not overly clubby.

Let's hear it.

Are you guys in shape?

What do you like to do?

Are more interested in laying on the beach or learning more about the culture of the places listed?

Do they let you pick the hotel? If no, what hotels?

it's still a giant scam.

Something tells me you're not really going on this trip, and if you do you're going to be hassled with time share presentations or some other baloney.

Well, everyone "wins", but that doesnt mean its a scam. Its going to be uncomfortable, but you just have to be able to say no to the (timeshare / vacation club / whatever they are calling it) that they are going to try to sell you.

Did you have to submit any credit info or be pre-qualified? If not, Id be extra cautious. Promos that take anyone off the street are going to be extra shady and high-pressure.

When you get to the sales pitch, listen politely and agree with whatever they are saying during the presentation (it will make it go faster). At the end tell them directly and in no-uncertain terms that you only came for the prize and you have absolutely no intention of purchasing anything. Dont engage any further and just keep asking for the prize. They will eventually concede.

:goodposting:

My wife always enters these things too... A few weeks ago we're in the car and her phone rings, she puts it on the bluetooth so it is coming through the car speakers... Guess what???

WE WON FREE FLIGHT AND HOTEL TO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!!!!! (we just have to listen to a brief presentation)...

At first my wife was looking over and smiling at me bc I always make fun of her for entering all of this stuff. Her smile started to disappear as she realized we were being pitched and we really didn't win anything.

It may not be completely a scam, but I am sure there will be a torturous and high-pressure sales pitch sometime during this trip.
