In Absentia was awesome, but most of Porcupine Tree's stuff in recent years has been underwhelming, IMO.
I disagree. Okay, Fear of a Blank Planet, while very good, was underwhelming by their standards, but Deadwing, The Incident and the Nil Recurring EP are all tremendous. Still, nothing beats Lightbulb Sun and Stupid Dream. :lmao:

1. Nickelback

2. Rob Thomas

3. Nickelback featuring Rob Thomas

4. Rob Thomas featuring Nickelback

5-10 are all some form of Rob Thomas with Members of Nickelback collaborations.

Rose Hill Drive

:lmao:

:tinfoilhat: Looking for music for my runs.

My mp3 player consists of mostly mass produced stuff I can enjoy like Three Days Grace :lmao:

1. Spoon

2. Decemberists

3. Built to Spill

4. My Morning Jacket

5. TV on the Radio

6. Dead Weather

7. Mumford & Sons

8. Avett Brothers

9. Midlake

Mumford & Sons? good folk band, but in no way do they rock. anyone who includes a banjo in their band does not rock.
We obviously have different definitions of "rock". Mumford & Sons may not rock like Metallica, but then if they did, I wouldn't listen.

M & S are pretty good, but by no definition do they "rock"

Wrong.

I'm getting old and I'm not big into a lot of the latest bands. If you want to rock, throw on Local H, 12 Angry Months, and have some fun.

anybody else out there listen to Sound of Guns? Love their album, but have yet to meet anyone who knows what I am talking about.

I must be getting old. I know none of these bands. Of course in my prime this list consisted of bands like Motley Crue, Van Halen, GnR, Metallica, ACDC, etc..

Postradamus understands how things work around here. More folk need to throw out some links - it's a great way to spread the name of whatever band you like.

This is the best you guys got? Even my favorite band Hed P.E. let me down this year with Truth Rising. Where's all the pissed off music like RATM - without the screaming that most bands have today?

And that is the answer. No one, and I mean NO ONE, has made consistently killer music over the past decade like these guys. Doubt me? Go get Robot Hive/Exodus or Blast Tyrant, then spend a couple of days reveling in the rock. If you are not completely satisfied, I will buy either one or both back. At fair market value, of course.

Although... whoever said Porcupine Tree wasn't wrong. That is one incredible band. Steven Wilson understands what it means to take everything that came before and make it into something new. And Gavin Harrison would give Neil Peart a run for his money.

The one band that really rocks today. I mean REALLY rocks is Coheed and Cambria. /thread.
:lmao: My 21 year old son got me into these guys a little over a year ago. Amazing band that puts on an incredible live show. Saw them twice last year and already bought tickets for their Spring "Evening With" Neverender 2 tour.
