Pick one for each category.... highest upside player

WR's

D. Bess, C. Schilens, J. Morgan, T. Williamson

RB

Buckhalter, M. Bush, Coffee, F. Taylor

Morgan and M. Bush.

Schilens will take longer to recover than most people think and he still plays with a horrible QB.

Bess plays in MIA

Williamson is not for real. He doesn't belong in the conversation.

Morgan is a serious talent.

Buckhalter??? Too much competition.

Coffee: I like him but he won't get much use unless Gore is hurt.

Taylor? Put him to pasture.

M. Bush has real talent and showed it last year; and the two guys ahead of him have glass for bones.

WR's

D. Bess, C. Schilens, J. Morgan, T. Williamson

RB

Buckhalter, M. Bush, Coffee, F. Taylor

Competition doesn't enter into the equation if you're talking upside. Schilens and Coffee for pure upside. Neither will likely approach their upside this year though. With Schilens I'm just talking about the last month or so of the season, but I'm just not liking the upside of the others.

Josh Morgan and Michael Bush

However, Troy Williamson is growing on me, and if I were a Frank Gore owner I'd handcuff Glen Coffee.

Williamson and Taylor for me.

Williamson has always had the ability to get open and create separation in the NFL but hasn't been able to catch the ball and finish plays. Looks like he's doing that now (I know it's just pre-season). If he can carry that over to the regular season he easily has the highest upside of those WRs listed.

Taylor has huge upside if he can simply emerge as the primary runner in the NE offense. If he can see even 50% of the total RB touches then he will be in the RB3 range IMO.

I like Coffee but he is totally reliant on a Gore injury. If Gore does go down then I suppose he could have more upside than Taylor, but I find the chances of that so small (at least for a large part of the season) that I'd prefer to have Taylor.

I like Davone Bess from the WR's.

As far as the running backs, I suppose you gotta go Freddy T.

Frad Taylor in the right spot and flying way under the radar this year with a new team. He could very well get some goalline action with the Pats even with Sammy Morris around, Taylor has always had a nose for the endzone.

Josh Morgan is the most dynamic WR on the team. Sorry Crabtree has shown nothing yet. 49ers will need some one to stretch the field and he is the best one for the job.
