Which restricted FAs are worth signing? (1 Viewer)

Which restricted free agents do you think are worth more than what the team could get with the picks they'd have to give up?

Here's my two:

I see Ronnie Brown-first rounder. If it's a late first, why not?

I lllllove Demeco Ryans so a first and a third (especially if the team was awarded an extra one in compensatory picks) seems just fine to me.

I'm not talking about (more or less) giving up Bradford or Suh for these guys but, the draft does get lean at a point and I just can't see how any 20th or later first round pick will improve a team moreso than Ryans. Throwing in a third rounder doesn't change my view here.

I remain incredibly surprised that no team deems that Pierre Thomas is worth a 2nd round pick. If I were the Chargers I'd be all over that, Texans too.

If I were a team like the Colts, or maybe even Minnesota, I'd trade a 1st for Jared Gaither.

Brandon Marshall for a 1st rounder would be very tempting if I had a late pick and was a team with a good locker room. New England would make a lot of sense to me. Dallas would make sense as well, but they probably have a bad taste in their mouth when it comes to trading 1sts for WR's.

As for a lesser known guys, Kirk Morrison was inexplicably tendered for just a 3rd rounder. I believe Morrison is one of the 10 best MLB's in the NFL, only the general public doesn't know much about him because he's a Raider. This is another guy where I think the Vikes would be wise to make a move on, especailly considering how much their defense fell off when Henderson got hurt.

Finally Willie Colon of the Steelers was very quietly the best RT in all of football last season according to PFF. He finshed 1st in their pass blocking ratings among all OT's. He's another guy, like Gaither, that I think a team like the Colts should be interested in.

I love the Morrison for a 3rd.. that's the steal of a lifetime IMO. I also like Leon Washington for a 2nd depending on his recovery.

I think the main problem is that it's not just the pick that has to be given up, teams also need to make a contract offer that is not likely to be matched by the other team. To obtain Pierre Thomas I think a team would have to offer him a pretty ludicrous contract for the Saints not to match it.

you do have a point.it's an uncapped year, why not try? Plus if (in most years) your contract offer forces one of 31 other clubs to be a bunch closer to the cap, that's gotta be in a team's benefit even if it's not immediately obvious

Marshall's attitude aside, that's a no brainer to me-plus I doubt Denver matches too high of a contract.

Morrison is kinda off there. A LB-minded coach should just pounce on him for depth. He could probably start for the Gmen right away if Pierce is gone.(lost track of him this offseason)

Leon Washington for a 2nd >>>>>>> Ronnie Brown for a 1st. Both are coming off of mid season major injuries. Both have shown excellent potential. Washington is a round cheaper and a year younger.

I think Morrison for a 3rd is the best steal right now.

I believe he could be signed at a realistic number, where Pierre,

whom I am also fond of, would command much higher caysh, imo.

Ronnie Brown and Leon are both extreme risks, Ronnie more so,

I think both players will go back to their respective teams.

I think Kirk isn't even the most attractive RFA LB on the Raiders. Tommy Howard as a WLB is a better move, IMO.

Jered Gaither?

1st rounder for a proven OT seems to be close to a no-brainer. Though, I suspect Balt would match nearly any offer.

IIRC CLE MLB D'Qwell Jackson can be had for a 2nd. He ended up on IR last year, but before that he was producing a lot of tackles. But I'm not sure if that's a good reflection of his actual talent. I have him in an IDP league and he's put up some great fantasy points the last couple years...

Morrison for a 3rd and Richard Marshall for a 2nd are two that I would think would definitely draw interest on defense

Brandon Marshall for a late 1st is probably worth the headache although he will be very expensive

I understand what your saying but just because this is an uncapped year doesn't mean the money wont be on the cap next year because none of those guys are going to get one year deals or non guaranteed money. As an Eagles fan I would love for them to go after Morrison for a 3rd but I don't see it happening.

Richard Marshall for the Vikings 2nd would be interesting.

Maybe Vikings should trade Ray Edwards for Marshall and Dan Conner.

They could sign them for a 3 year 15 mil deal and pay 10 of it this year though, right?

It's funny, I actually think that Ronnie Brown is one of the worst RFA choices on the entire market. He turns 29 midway through the season next year, he plays arguably the most fungible position in the entire league, and he's had two major season-ending injuries in the last three years (sprinkled among a sizeable list of minor injuries that have prevented him from ever starting more than 14 games in his career). If he comes back slow from this last injury, then by the time he's back up to speed, you've paid major, major money to an RB who's about to turn 30. Not a smart investment on any level, imo. Even if he didn't cost a 1st round pick, I wouldn't want my team to sign him. Not because he's a bad player (I've always thought he was a fantastic talent, even better than Michael Turner), but because it's just not a smart investment, imo.Pierre Thomas for a 2nd, though... that's an RFA I can get behind.

Pat Yasinskas, of ESPN.com, reports the Carolina Panthers have received inquiries about LB Dan Connor this offseason, but the Panthers have let teams know that they will not be trading him, according to a source.
Was just going to say the same thing. Connor is penciled in as the starting SLB along with Beason in the middle and Thomas Davis at WLB. Connor started a game in place of Na'il Diggs last year against New England and notched 10 tackles and a fumble recovery. He's a guy we drafted in the 3rd who had a first round grading. He's come along slower because he tore his ACL early in his rookie year. There are a lot of expectations out of him here in Carolina.
