which steelers WR gets the targets this week? (1 Viewer)

i've done a chunk of research trying to figure out the steeler's WR situation, and keep coming up with wildly conflicting reports as to who will get the bulk of ward's targets: washington, holmes, or wilson. does anyone know anything for sure? or is this a crap shoot?

(i realize there's an abundance of posts that peripherally deal with this topic, but none that directly address it.)

my only thought is that nate and holmes will split the extra targets, and ced will get little. but, do not fall into the thought pattern that all of war'd targets have to go somewhere. they don't. but, i expect nate and holmes to get the lion's share of fantasy points.

With the steelers being pretty much out of playoff contention ,look for Holmes to probably start and be the 1# WR for the next couple of weeks. Without Ward. They will be looking to develop there younger players for next season. Even before this week ,Holmes was beginning to emerge as there 2nd best WR behind Ward.

I don't see anyone "getting Ward's targets" per se. More likely they'll be divided up between all three guys, plus a few more looks at Miller and maybe even more FWP. If you absolutely HAVE to use one of them, I'd go with Holmes, only because Ben has seemed to be gaining some confidence in him lately.

To me Ward is somewhat of a possession type receiver.

So out of the WR's, I think Washington will see some of Ward's targets. But I also think H Miller will see more targets. Does anybody else think Miller benefits significantly here?

true... things will get spread out if anything. if washington wants to be in the mix, he needs to stop dropping passes... and if holmes wants to stay on the field, he needs to stay out of legal trouble. i'll be interested to see how the game unfolds... of course, the success of the WRs depends largely on how many picks big ben decides to throw.

I believe - and someone correct me if I'm wrong - that Cowher has already said Wilson will remain the starter with Holmes splitting time with him. What is definitely known is that Washington is going to replace Ward.As far as the question, it's a crap shoot. I do think Holmes is the best bet to do well given how he's been the second-best option behind Ward for the past several games. But will Washington stepping into Ward's position give him an inside track on being more productive? Could he see a healthy number of targets given how that position on the field is where most of the Steelers' passes go each week? That to me is the big question here. Washington definitely got a lot of targets last week with Ward out so that could be an indication he's in a prime spot to do well this week.FBG has made it quite clear who they like this week but I'm not going to reveal their pecking order. If I had to pick one WR that I felt the best about it would be Holmes. If Holmes was gone and I had to choose between Washington and Wilson that's when it would get more dicey. I'd probably give a slight edge to Washington since he is the one stepping into Ward's position.

just another thing to note: if holmes does end up in court on monday and has to face a 2-3 day trial, that makes it a little uncertain whether or not he'll even play in the steelers thursday game vs. cleveland... which might be the final game that ward is out.

if i had to guess, i'd say washington gets more of an upswing on thursday than tomorrow.
