This is a tough call for me, but for the reason you prefer Rice, I prefer Austin. He runs crisper routes. Merrill Hoge has a segment on ESPN today where he details just what a great route runner Austin is. He got a little bad rep because Romo and him misread a play early in the season, but I've watched that several times and felt Romo was in error, not Miles. He is faster, quicker, more explosive with and without the ball than Rice. He is physically stronger and breaks more tackles. Better RAC and a nose for the endzone every time he touches it. Rice may have better hands. Both have the ability to make freak grabs with hops and body control. Rice may get preferential treatment in the red zone that Austin doesn't. Austin has had his bye, Rice hasn't. I dunno. I've been a Rice fan since he was a freshman in college, and I always expected him to emerge as a WR1 in the NFL, but Austin is the better physical talent. I pimped him back in 2006 as a UDFA, and I strongly suspected his physical freakishness would translate, so I'm not totally surprised by him. Either way, they're both emerging #1s on deep versatile offenses who will soon be getting a lot more attention from defenses, so I'd temper expectations some going forward. Neither can sustain their current 2 game paces.Rice is the better physical talent. That's who I always go with.
Per Rotoworld:How badly injured is Berrian? Any updates?
During a radio interview Monday morning, Bernard Berrian said he hopes to play at Green Bay this week. "That's the plan," Berrian said. The receiver missed the second half Sunday after injuring his left hamstring. In the preseason, he injured his right hamstring and missed three weeks. It would be a surprise if Berrian was at full strength in six days. Oct. 26 - 11:09 am et
I think I'd rather have Austin because Crayton was never that good and Williams has failed to live up to expectations. Meanwhile, Favre has 3 receivers of seemingly equal caliber to choose from. Right now Rice is getting the most attention, but it could just as easily be Berrian or Harvin.
Plus, the Vikings are more likely to rely on the running game.
not really.they pass quite a bit..
Did you watch the game yesterday?Favre will only throw if he needs to...........
Um, yep, watched it all. Favre threw plenty as most teams find they "need to" against the Steelers. 18 carries for 69 yards is a pretty typical RB game against Pittsburgh, so therefore Favre NEEDED to throw yesterday like I said.In his horrible division though against teams like Detroit, Chicago, etc. he'll be less "needed" to throw since they have one of the best RB's in the league on their team.Did you watch the game yesterday?Favre will only throw if he needs to...........
If you look at the games where Minnesota didn't need to pass, they didn't pass much. Also, Shiancoe is as much a sure thing as Rice, especially against bad teams.Week 1 vs Cleveland - Favre for 110.I think I'd rather have Austin because Crayton was never that good and Williams has failed to live up to expectations. Meanwhile, Favre has 3 receivers of seemingly equal caliber to choose from. Right now Rice is getting the most attention, but it could just as easily be Berrian or Harvin.

not really.they pass quite a bit..
who has the better QB and the better RB?
Rice.
Favre >> Romo.
ADP >>>>>>>>> Barber+felix+Choice+ anyone else.
Romo is too shaky to be relied upon
Harvin drops too many passes, and he's always hurt. Berrian is always hurt.Shiancoe has his head screwed on loosely.
Rice is the only sure thing in Minnesota's passing game..and he's done it against some of the NFL's better pass defenses in consecutive weeks: Ravens and Steelers, while Austin has done it against KC and Atl...![]()
Austin isn't sneaking up on anyone, he's got everyone's attention now..so defenses will shift coverages towards him, forcing Roy Williams to beat them.which, of course, he can't.
Rice is a stud.sell high on Austin
