Assuming the contract details are identical including number of years left, which quarterback would you rather have for your NFL team, and why?

NFL, not fantasy.

3 man race for me; Bortles, Bridgewater and Winston.

I'd have to pick Winston I rate him highest if they were drafted together.

Agree that Carr should be in this. I might pick him as well.

Just slipped my mind as I was thinking about first rounders, or I'd have put Carr in.

I've heard Carr looked really bad on tape the last part of the season. Can't say I saw much of many Raiders games that late in the year though.

Ok, cool, it let me add another option without it losing the earlier votes. Derek Carr now an option.

Bortles would be last, below Manziel. He just doesn't look like a very accurate QB and he doesn't seem to diagnose plays quick enough. ??

Probably would roll with Jameis and hope the guy doesn't let his off-field tendencies ruin his upside as a player.

Bridgewater. I thought he should have been the first qb taken last year and nothing has changed that opinion.

If not for the off field stuff I might have Winston but I'd stay away from that stuff.

MM is second.

Johnny Football tearing this up so far with 0 votes out of 30.
Not trying to be funny, but why would anyone take a recovering addict to be the face of their franchise. Same goes for Winston will all of these other options available. It's not like Johnny or Jameis show appreciably more talent than the other guys on the list and the other guys are clean from a PR standpoint. I live in Atlanta and there's still issues around here with what happened with Mike Vick. It divided a lot of the fanbase and there's still a contingent of fans who'll never accept Matt Ryan. Every Falcons game for a couple of years had people in Vick jerseys walking past people with anti-Vick signs. It takes the focus off the team in a bad way no matter where you side.

I chose Bridgewater over Carr. Both showed promise as rookies with few weapons around them. They should both improve as the game slows down for them and they get WR talent.

I voted Bridgewater, but there's no way that Winston or Mariota should have more votes than Carr.

They're both hot garbage.

Winston and Mariota were drafted high because they play QB and all of the other QB's in this year's draft were stinkier hot garbage.

So why wasn't Carr (or any other qb) drafted highly last year? I voted Bridgewater, but if it were based on on-field performance alone, I would choose Winston.

Reminder it says "your NFL team". Put Bortles on Saints or Pats or any great offense, heck put him with Norv as OC, I think he looks and produces better than all the rest. Same with the flip side, imagine TB with the 2014 jags see how that goes. Only one that doesn't apply to is Manziel who is DQ'd for basically taking a year off in addition to his physical limitations. Too early on MM and Winston. Carr had to deal with playing in Oak and he did remarkably well. The guy could be a gunslinger with the right OC/HC.

Bridgewater/Carr - Both guys already have a track record of success, have shown that they have what it takes to succeed in the league, and look to have much improved situations moving forward.

tier

Mariota - Has all the tools needed to be successful, but goes behind the others due to risk. We just haven't seen him yet. Upside a little limited both by specific skillset and location, but should be solid for a franchise that builds smartly around him.

tier

Bortles - I think he can become a decent backup QB.

tier

Winston and Manziel - I do not think either has what it takes to make it as a backup QB in the NFL. Manziel's troubles are legion and well-documentd. Winston's, almost equally so, and now that he's been drafted, Lovie's had to step in front of cameras and apologize for him multiple times already, and the school that was recently hitched to his bandwagon is breaking its back to distance themselves from him. I see no way either of these guys doesn't outright bust.

Bridgewater or Mariota, I picked Bridgewater only because of his experience. I think there is a large drop after them to the rest.

I like Carr and would have him #3 on the list, maybe above MM just because he's played a year and didn't implode, but what track record of success are you talking about? His team was 3-13 (mostly not his fault), his completion %, QB Rating, AY/A, and ANY/A were around #30. I'l give him a lot of credit for not taking many sacks or throwing too many INTs (same rate as Tannehill and Stafford - not bad for a rookie). But I'm just not seeing a track record of "success".

He sure should improve with a better WR now, and he's probably a decent buy in dynasty leagues.

Can you please post your links to these apologies because I have not heard of one.

Also, Bowden is a moron as Winston made that school relevant again. Basically what Bowden is trying to do is save face for all the 15 and 16 year old's parents they are talking to saying this isnt the FSU you should know. In reality what Bowden should have said is that Winston was young and had maturity issues at times but luckily he still has a lot of road ahead of him to overcome anything he has done off the field, this will also allow him to grow as an individual and become the upstanding person he wants to be deep down inside.

Also that whole thing is hardly Lovie apologizing for Winston in my mind as Winston didn't do anything wrong in this instance. If Winston was that big of an embarrassment the university would have thrown him out a long time ago.

I have Winston #1 and Bridgewater a close #2, the only reason Winston is higher is that right now I feel his upside is a touch bigger. Even with all the off field issues the Bucs still went Winston over Mariota so that really should say something.

I think Bridgewaters career is a touch brighter though as the Vikings are building a really good squad. The biggest mis-step so far is not trading AP as I dont think they contend for the Super Bowl or Division this year and the pieces they could get for an ageing AP could set them on the right path long-term.
