A PLAYER MAY BE STOLEN IF AND ONLY IF IT PASSES THIS TEST:

1. Is it that owner's last pick taken? If yes....

2. Have I made a pick (of any type...steal, original, or repick) since this player was FIRST DRAFTED FROM THE PLAYER POOL....if no, then....

3. Did I have the opportunity to steal this player before (while I was on the clock)...if no....then

4. Have I ever owned this player before? If no, then...

Roy Williams - replacement pick.
whoops, didn't see that he was taken already.Way to keep the first post up to date.Oh well.
You had every right to steal him, what's the issue exactly? Nevermind, you thought you were making a pick, when in fact you were making a steal.Yeah, I had mentioned in the most recent rules thread (renesauz's) that someone would have to be around early and often for things to go smoothly. I believe it is also your responsibility to check the most recent posts to see what has transpired since the last time the draft record was updated. Dilligence is key, I suspect.

The old stand by of doing a Cntrl F Search on "Roy" and "Williams" helps too.....

He may have meant to make a fresh pick, but luckily for him it was a legal steal...a foolish steal since someone is likely to steal from him, but a legal one.ON THE OTHER HAND...The attempted steal of Steve Smith is NOT a legal steal. Jeff has made at least two picks since he first aquired Steve Smith.

Smith remains with Jeff. Ruffrodys is charged with a steal, and may make up his pick with a fresh pool player at any time.

Was that Jeffs LAST pick?

I'm just asking. :fishing:
NO....it was not.....my BAD. I lose a steal, obviously. "Yo, Rody, way to be first to screw up."Re-select.........

Yep.........that might help in a pinch.......
 :help:

I'm doing the best I can to keep post 1 accurate and up to date. The more steals occur, the more difficult it is, obviously. Luckily (for this draft anyway), my trip this weekend is canceled.

BUT...I've got two real sick kids, am sitting on 2 hours sleep, and today's my anniversary to boot. Hell of a way to start a vacation.

I may be a bit slow to update for the remainder of today, so be very careful on your steals to make sure they are legal.

I have a question...with my 2.02 pick I basically got screwed because I wasn't around for a few days for a replacement pick...the draf continued as players were picked that I now can no longer pick...correct?

At this point, you could have stolen the above not in gray, but probably would have had them stolen from you.[/b]

Now you can steal any of the above (use the steal test to be sure,) and immediately pick someone after to secure him on your roster.

What player did you think you were going to steal in the first set and keep

that is better than the player you're going to secure now?

IMHO, you may have lost out on forcing some steals, but it is very unlikely you missed out on a player.

PS: Hopefully this isn't too butchered to figure it out.

PSS: Is there a late second round value available right now?

I didn't run every player, but it looks like Fitgerald and Cedrick Benson are the only players from this round blocked from stealing.

Recall you got top 3-4 value in first round drafting near the end. Here, you can get early AND late third round value with your next two picks.

Not an ideal spot I'll admit, but you didn't get screwed....

more like a minor #####-slap

2.01 Replacement Pick - Travis Henry3.15 - Deuce McCallister
Picks should be 2.02 and 3.13. Henry was taken at 1.03; thus an illegal steal, so LHUCKS should be charged with a steal and can make up that pick from the pool at any time (that player will then be locked off by virtue of the legal McAllister pick). 2.02 will need to be made up before 4.02 is selected.ETA: New pick was selected while I was posting (see above edit). I can agree with the interpretation that McAllister would have to go to the 2.02 and a new player selected at 3.13; need commissioner confirmation on this though.

Duckboy has it right, but I do feel bad for LHUCKS. I wonder why Henry didn't show up on a control F search....his name wasn't mispelled or anything?

LESSON LEARNED: It may be better to freeze the draft if someone will be missing for a couple of days, especially if they are near an end.

Post 1 is up to date now.

Rudy is up (and messaged).

Some of you know I've been keeping a blog of the draft, to be posted later. It will also help me to write an article on this draft if it works out (and it seems to be so far). I thought that I'd share the entry I just made though:

Sunday March 18th: (end third round):

11:30 AM: A little drama right after I signed off last night. Our #14 drafter (LHUCKS) tried to make up his stolen second round pick with Travis Henry, who was drafted early in the first round. He tried to edit the post (almost immediately) once he realized Henry was gone, but it was basicaly an illegal steal. According to LHUCKS, a control F search failed to show him. Duckboy was on line, and set it straight. IN the end, LHUCKS has S. Jackson from first round, Deuce McCallister from second, and Marquis Colsten from third, with WSL ADP's of 2(RB2), 23(RB18) and 36 (WR10). That equates to an early first, a middle second, and a mid third round pick in a normal draft. Colsten is vulnerable to steal, but most likely LHUCKS will keep him since he's so close to the end, and there are a couple of more attractive receivers available for stealing to most of us needing a replacement pick. LESSON LEARNED: It may be better to freeze the draft instead of simply turning off the clock when somebody will be gone a few days. Had LHUCKS been here and watching the draft, he likely would have had the opportunity to steal a RB more attractive to him. He hasn't been screwed exactly, according to ADP's, but this definately solidifies the drafts nickname "screw your buddy draft".
