Who’s the better keeper for ‘18, Garoppolo or Deshaun Watson? (1 Viewer)

I can keep 3. David Johnson and Antonio Brown are pretty much set in stone. It’s a league where qbs score a lot and it’s important to have a good one. But it’s only a one qb start league.

So who would you guys go with of those 2? I also have Mariota on my roster but at this point I’m probably done with him.

Do you HAVE to keep 3?  Is there a round consideration?

These questions matter.  If you don't have to keep 3, then I would keep neither, and hopefully you have a better option at RB/WR to keep.  Watson and Garoppolo are not 3rd round picks in a redraft next year.

If you have to keep 3 and with no round consideration (and no other viable options at other positions), then I would keep Watson.  Much more upside that Garoppolo.  Otherwise, pick the QB with better value based on round.

Don’t have to keep anyone. Round doesn’t matter. If I keep 3 my first pick is in the 4th round. I don’t see how I could have much better keepers at wr/rb. Brown and Johnson are studs that have both been #1 overall guys recently. I’d probably rather have a Gurley at rb but someone else has him...

as for qbs, because of the scoring they are the most valuable position in this league. If Watson is going to keep putting up numbers like he did I definitely think he’s valuable enough to be a third rounder. I also feel like Garoppolo could develop into a guy I’d want to keep every year too.

If you don't keep either guy, do you get an early 3rd round pick? What # overall do you think your first pick would be and who would be available?

I think I’d get the last pick of the 3rd because I won the league.

Not sure who’d be available because not everyone keeps 3. It’s usually a week or 2 before the season when the commissioner sets a deadline to declare who you’re going to keep.

I could keep another non qb. Got some other good players K Allen, G Tate, Olson and Engram at TE....

but like I said before qb is really important in this particular league...

To me, Keenan Allen is an easy choice, especially if you're in a PPR league.  If you let him go, he should be one of the very first picks, so it's very unlikely he gets to the end of Round 4.

So you will have to decide if Deshaun Watson + what's available at the end of Round 4 is better than K Allen + whatever QB you draft.  QBs may score a lot, but it's the relativity that counts.  Would Watson outscore a midrange QB like Dak or Stafford by a wide margin?  If no, better to keep Allen and draft a QB like Stafford.

What is the QB scoring and is it a PPR league?  And how many teams?

Since QB is valuable in your league I'd still go with Watson. Just a thought but since you like Gurly any chance you can trade Johnson and Allen for him? The Gurly owner might bite on that one. You should try and get some value for some of your players like Allen. The Cardinals could be really hurting at QB next year and that might limit Johnson.

Yes ppr but qb actually gets a point for every completion too. Full 6 points for TD (pass or run). Point per every 25 yards passing. With bonus starting at 300 I think. Bonus for long plays over 40 yards and first downs. Peyton Manning was putting up close to 100 points some games that huge year he had a few years ago.

Garoppolo is more like to repeat what he did (and add a few more TDs if SF finds an NFL-caliber receiving corps) than Watson is to repeat what he did.  A 9% TD rate is not sustainable.

I'd probably punt both of them for a 3rd round pick though.
