Who are the top sharks here? (1 Viewer)

Bouddha

Footballguy
I am new here so I would like to get your votes for who you consider to be the top 5 sharks on FBG. Whose opinion do you respect the most? You can't include yourself in the list :)

I really liked Switz opinions. I haven't seen him around. He always thought Kevan Barlow was a dud.Jason Wood used to have some of the best posts b/f he was a FBG mod. I'm sure he still does if you have $20.

wonder what happened to Switz? His great prediction was excellent stuff.

Colin seems to know his stuff and apparently his wife is hot.

I think if you did a search on David Yudkin posts you'd have enough great reading material to take you to the season.I find many threads wander back and forth and than BAM - The Hammer is thrown down. Most of the Mods are pretty good....

True, the stats Yuds' brings to the discussions are awesome.

any of the FBGs. if you see a post with someone's actual name as the username, pay attention.

I think there is a lot of talent here. I respect Bloom's and Tick's, EBF, Salmonstud and on and on. I would consider them sharks. If they are posting in these forums regularly I would consider them sharks. Any of the Mods too.

I think all the Mods are very informative, probably why they were hired. There's whole bunch of people that I think know what they're doing, or at least think they do :P As you get to know more and more people, some posters seem to have specialty areas: For example I seem to listen in good faith to Capella when he's talking about Tampa Bay (Except for the part where he predicts them to go 15-1 every year.)You got Lhucks,TommyGunz, and Bagger who like anything West of the Mississippi. When things are hot, it's nice to read posts by GregR who adds his subtle touches to keep things balanced.Mr. Harrier and JW have their moments.Family Matters is very respectful and well rounded. The Fanatic knows his stuff about the Rams and a specialist in auction/contract leagues. Wilked is very factual.BassNBrew adds knowledge as well as wit. Shadowfax knows his stuff but doesn't post enough here, afraid of FFA status I suppose. EBF knows a thing or 2 and if you're nice to him you might get invited into his invitational.Kleck is a solid contributor, I've been watching him, Radballs the same. Tick and Jurb do some quality posting. Nittany Lion and Bueno are a couple of old timers who can make you rethink a certain situation. There are just so many, even more than I've left off this list. What's even better is that when you get involved with a couple leagues with them, they can back it up........well some of them can.Couch Potato has lot of experience.Edit to add Gatorman, who I think has the coolest avatar and a very informative poster.BostonFred knows more than most forget and co-owner of IwannaknowBostonFredAnd don't forget about last year's board member captain...Unlucky. He doesn't post a lot, but when he does it's usually something worth looking at.This is my third edit, i knew I'd regret posting in this thread but I have to put in diesel and sammyjenkins.

Instead of focusing on certain posters, I would find the ones who I think are strong in certain areas and who follow specific areas or teams. For example, Diesel and COlin are pretty knowledgeable on the Titans, and Shick! follows the Seahawks closely, as does some other active posters.

The funny thing is when someone unknowingly sticks their nose between two guys who have had a long running tussle. Funny stuff. Or, when a guy has a real hot button issue. I remember Marc Levin jumping all over me for calling Fred Taylor "Fragile". Funny stuff. Here:

I can't remember who it was, but someone last year got REAL upset with another poster calling Chris Brown "Chrissy" or maybe it was Edgerrina :lmao:

it is hard to narrow down, but doug drinen, bob henry, jason wood, cracker (shawn culcasi), aaron rudnicki, dave baker (last three reflect my IDP homer bias) :) , maurille tremblay, chris smith, chase stuart, michael brown & david yudkin are among my favorite staffers, as well as bloom, barry jive, oz, reg, who dat (for IDP/dynasty diary thread), sammy jankis, EBF (formerly east bay funk), family matters & iwannabeacowboy for non-staffers. tick is one of the resident ADP gurus and collates info from multiple early drafts by position in his signature... a big help in the off-season.i must be leaving out dozens of other posters i like a lot... a sign of the aggregate horsepower of the parallel processing engine also known as the shark pool... a 100-eyed monster that sees everything (almost). :)

Last season was my first (here at FBG's), so really tried to listen and learn from just about everyone. You really just have to dig through and read and get to know as many of the regular posters and lurkers as possible...form your own opinion. Thus far this season, I'm just absolutely LOCKED ON in my thinking with both Jason Woods and, thus...as noted by them both...LHUCKS. We'll see as the pre-season gets closer, but I generally have my own opinions about players and the goings-on around the league, then come here to get any information and gritty details that I've looked over.As mentioned above, most of the Staff and Mods posts are generally very well thought out (oh, and they do a good job of keeping good discusions going with poignent (sp?) points).

I'm gonna agree with the masses here. Just follow a long for a week. It depends on what your thing is (action, specific team, etc) watch out for the WDISguised threads. People will kill you on those. Oh and :honda:

Yeah, we have to watch for the WDIS, not quite time yet. However, I think the :honda: police have been a little more relaxed or not as many mulitple threads on certain topics have been posted.

Agree with J. Wood and Lhucks........oh lord, good luck. :hophead:

I think it breaks down to what you are looking for. There are guys who great on college prospects, other on current NFLers, specific team guys, great theorists, great trade evaluators, good stats guysYou will eventually get a good 10-12 that you punch the thread when you see the name even though that thread is not of interest. While there are plenty guys with years and years experience at fantasy football, don't be afraid to disagree with them when you have speicific info or a strong opinions. Those guys did not get to be sharks without being challenged.

LOL, I know! Lord help me. But I will say this, I was dead against LHUCKS on almost everything last year...and I had an ABYSMAL year in 3 of 4 leagues! /shrug, for what it's worth.

My heady question of the day is WHY are these people your favorite posters? Is it because you AGREE with them? Is it because they get you to RETHINK your position on things? Is it because they are INFORMATIVE? Is it because they add in WITTY JABS at other posters? Etc., etc., etc. . . Just curious . . .

There are too many guys to name individually, but I really miss Jets94, smlevin, aaronr28, Goat Herders, Anarch99, Capybara, Drugrunner, Res Ipsa Loquitur, gringoloco, Cracker, apemeat, truth, Memphis Foundry, and Ypsitucky...where did those guys end up I wonder? ;)

Those questions go to an assistant coach forum....I would suggest that you explore IDP, Assistant coach, and Dating Game forums also....Oh, also the mock draft forum, even now there is draft going on between a ton of the regulars that could give you some insight.

I miss GregR and Gatorman (who only check in occassionally), ChuckC, and Maximus*, all who were some of the best here.

It's not as simple as "I agree" with them, though that's a part of it. For me, being an engineer, it's about logical thinking and common sense. My biggest problem, is I'm still developing my FF common-sense-o-meter. So, I depend a bit on logic checks from guys who've been in /exposed to it longer than I have (about 6 years now of FF but NFL fan since the Colts came to Indy). Anyway, I just can't abide illogical thinking, or thinking with little logic behind it.I'm a big proponent of taking real facts/figures/numbers and forming an opinion for yourself. Then coming here, and reading arguments both for/against it. Run your opinions through the public wringer that IS FBG's, and see if the stains come out or not! More often than not, at the moment, I think guys like Jason and LHUCKS seem to make the most "logical" arguments. /shrug....you asked.

Awesome, man! I thought you had abandoned us.

Good question...............my answer is it has nothing to do with agreeing with me. It has everything to do about being informative and possibly making me rethink my position on things. Even deeper than that, how they are able to come across in doing so.For example, I think Jason W. does a great job of taking a topic, being informative about it and doing his best not to offend anyone in the process. I also remember when Herd and Aaron28 were posting as just Shark Pool Regulars and to me, they came across as know it all's. I probably didn't know them enough and as I've been able to read a lot more posts from them as A. Rudnicki and Colin they have learned to be more politically correct in terms of how to get their message across. I mean that as a compliment because if you're rude or act like a know it all, people tend not to listen, but rather just focus on the fact of the person acting like a know it all. But if you can listen, and reason with a person they're more apt to listen to what you have to say.

There are some very informative posters on here that will post and get negative in the process, that turns me off.

The last part, wit. I've always appreciated good humor. I think we're in this hobby to have some fun so I appreciate someone who is light hearted at times and can throw in a joke or two. I think Bass N Brew is good at that (there are lots).

Of non-staffers...guys who usally bring their A games, even though we often disagree wholeheartedly are:LHUCKSTheDirtyWordjurb26BaggerBarry Jive and the Uptown FiveBassNBrewBloomBlueOnionBostonFredCobaltCruisinCouch Potatodiesel7982EBFEvilGrin 72Family MattersFrenchy FuquaFullback FroGregRGridiron AssasinIwannabeacowboybaby!jofferJurb26SammyJankisTickUnluckywilkedI'm sure I'm leaving out some peeps...and if so, it wasn't my intent!

Self-assesment:2003 - I did very well in FBG expert leagues and my rankings were above average as well.

2004 - My rankings were very good, but my FBG related leagues were average...which was disappointing.

2005 - We'll see, so far I'm in WSL, SSLIII, EBF invitational, No Mercy Grubs etc.

I pay attention to different posters for different topics. I read everything and then formulate my own opinion. You'll find some posters have more sound logic and knowledge than others.

Go to the value article that came out recently. You'll see many of the top posters there...although some of the staff are missing.
