Who are top College Prospects for 2009? (1 Viewer)

Brian Sinclair

Footballguy
Our league can draft players in college for next year. Are there any worthy players coming out of college that may be able to contribute next year as a rookie? Usually we are talking about RB's and WR's.

Thanks.

Brian

The cream of the crop:

RB LeSean McCoy, Pittsburgh

RB Chris Wells, Ohio State

RB Knowshon Moreno, Georgia

WR Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech

WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, Maryland

WR Percy Harvin, Florida

Others will rise, but these guys are almost certainly first round picks when they declare.

How do these 2009 RB prospects compare to the 2008 RB group? Better talent? Worse? Depth?

The WR sound very promising from the little I have read on them. And I am hearing there are several good QB prospects likely to declare for the 2009 draft.

I appreciate peoples thoughts on this because I do not track college football like others here do. So I mostly only have what I read to go on.

It's way too early to tell but if I had to say right now t*The top of the 09 RB class = the top of the 08 RB class*Less RB depth*The top of the 09 WR class > the top of the WR class*Less WR depth*The QB class appears to be about as weak as this years

Much better WR group in 2009. Too early to say much about the RBs.

2008 RB's>>2009 RB's - No Mcfadden type talent, nor the depth of the 2008 class

2009 WR's>2008 WR's - 2009 class has more top end talent, not as much depth.

2008 QB's=2009 QB's - Most probably think 2009 class is better, but i am really high on Ryan and Flacco.

One thing to keep in mind about McCoy is that he's only a sophomore. He did spend a year at prep school after breaking his ankle as a senior, so he'll be eligible, but there's always the risk that he could go back to Pitt for his junior year.

I heard he'll enter the draft if he gets a good grade. I expect him to be in the 2009 class when it's all said and done.

The WR depth in 2009 is just as good as in 2008. There are lots of unheralded guys who will be early picks.

Jarett Dillard of Rice is a name to remember. He has a chance to be an impact player in the NFL.

[i really like chris wells right now, and i traded out of my 2nd pick this year to get peyton, so i'd like to trade into the top 2 picks next year, but what's worth it...i saw another guy in my league trade willis mcgahee for a 2009 first rounder from a pretty crappy team...is that worth it right now? mcgahee wasn't a starter for him, but still...do i gotta match that now to try to find a worse team to trade with?

Jeremy Maclin
Good addition. Florida's Percy Harvin and Mizzou's Jeremy Maclin are both athletic specimens, but Michael Crabtree is sexy name people are talking about as an NFL WR star. WR Darius Heyward-Bey of Maryland is also someone who should continue to turn heads as the season progresses. I'll add some QBs

Cullen Harper, Clemson

Matt Stafford, Georgia

Tim Tebow, Florida

Curtis Painter, Purdue

Hunter Cantwell, Louisville

Chris Pizzotti, Harvard (yes Harvard)

Rhett Bomar, Sam Houston State

Chase Daniel, Missouri

Guys I am most interested in following this year.
Chris Pizzotti, Harvard (yes Harvard)Rhett Bomar, Sam Houston State
Guys I would like to see - but can't - and will be digging as much info as I possibly can on them throughout the season. You're not the first person I've heard/read that's high on Pizzotti, want to see if Bomar takes advantage of his second opportunity after being given the boot by Stoops.
