Who are you starting/benching Week 1 (1 Viewer)

Here's another one.

Driver at Detroit or Horn at NYG Monday (early) night.

I'm leaning towards Horn but I expect to go back and forth on this one.
Joe Horn and the Saints are at Carolina week 1.
:bag: Oops.

I guess I got caught up in the whole "Saints-moving-their-game-to-the-Meadowlands" story.

Sad thing is that I'm a Giants fan too. :bag:

I guess I'll start Horn.

Try this onePick three to play:Edge at Baltimore (Sunday night)CMart at Kansas CityW. Parker vs TennesseeC. Taylor vs Indy DS (Sunday night)I don't think it's so clear

I hate to do it, but in a 12 team league I am seriously considering benching either Edge vs. Balt or J. Jones vs. SD in favor of Mike Anderson who I expect to have a big game this week.

Starting Delhomme over Brooks at QBQuandry at WR. Starting Chad Johnson for sure. Personally, I have no trouble starting WR's against the Steelers (tough to run on, but can get beat through the air), so Bennett will start too. Right now, leaning to starting Charles Rogers as my #3 WR vs. the Packers and sitting Chambers...

I'm Benching Wayne VS Ravens in favor of TJ Houshmandzade against the Browns in week 1. Am I an idiot ?
No, but you can't spell Houshmandzadeh. Then again, not many people can. ;)

Corey Dillon vs. Oakland or Mike Anderson vs. Miami. On the one hand, Denver RBs are studs. On the other hand... Oakland's defense is going to be ABYSMAL. I think I'm going with Dillon.Brooks @ Carolina, Brees vs. Dallas, Griese @ Minnesota. I'm a little worried about the Saints in week 1, but I think I'm going to have to stick with Brooks here.

I'm probably benching Kevin Jones for Steven Jackson in Week 1.Still not sure, but that's the current decision (.5 PPR league)It's just too close to call.

I am starting Delhomme vs. NO at QB, over Griese vs. Minn. I am not totally sold that Minnesota's DEF is ship-shape, but Delhomme is a better QB anyway. At RB, I have a slight dilemma. I am starting Jullius Jones @ SD and C-Mart @ KC for sure. I will probably start Dom Davis vs. Buffalo, but if I had a better option, I might take it. I have Benson, Foster, and Willie Green on my bench at RB.At WR, I am starting Steve Smith vs. NO and Burleson vs. TB. I don't like the Burleson match-up, but he has C-Pep throwing him the ball, so I kinda have to go with it. My other option is Santana Moss @ CHI. The Bears have a pretty good defense and Ramsey scares me anyway.Only have one option at TE, K, and DEF -- Dallas Clark @ BAL (ouch), CAR D vs. NO (not sure what to make of this yet), and Longwell.

R Johnson vs ClvorPortis vs Chithats my dilemnaLeaning towards Johnson because Washingtons pass offense is going to be horrible and i think the box gets stacked against Portis until the Redskins prove they can throw. However, i think both of these backs have the chance to run amock in these games. Also, in another league im sketchy will Edge versus Bmore because last year they shut him down pretty good when i had him then. My only other alternatives are S Davis/ D Foster though, i have both but who knows who plays more of that game and gets the TD options?

Dunn vs PHI, or F Taylor vs SEAThis is one Ive been trying to figure out for a week. Yeah, PHI has a great defense, but no Simon, no Douglas, its in Atlanta, and Dunn has looked great in the preseason.I think Im gonna wait to see just how healthy Taylor is before I start him.

Rattay, over Brooks/McNair. Brooks has the NO uncertainty, and facing the tough Carolina D at home. McNair has all the question marks, and vs Pitt. Rattay played better than expected last year, and faces the Rams "shootout" stat boost. Also, Denver D over Jets D this week...? KC is a tough offense, I hear. :)

In my keeper, well, 3 RBs really, start 2.Edge, Kevin Jones n Westbrook to toss up between, if it was catches be simple.Kevin Jones vs. a soft GB D I think will be a definate. Then I gotta toss up between Edge vs. Baltimore n Westbrook vs. ATL. Both solid D's and I think Westbrook would have more chance of a score with his catching ability. Not sure about that, flip a coin I think, even tho I have got Edge at my RB1 this week.PS. NEVER BENCH A STUD?haha I might find out this weekend.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. TJ couldn't hold Wayne's jock.
No, I'm pretty sure that TJ could hold Wayne's jock. I mean, he doesn't have any degenerative hand conditions that I'm aware of... and if he does, I think he's learned to cope with them remarkably well, because he still seems reasonably capable of catching a football.I don't know, maybe TJ *ISN'T* capable of holding Wayne's jock. Perhaps you've heard some news that I haven't? Man, maybe I should try to trade him before everyone learns that he's missing fingers or something! Do you happen to have a :link: ?

Edit: All joking aside, I think Baltimore is a GREAT matchup for Wayne. McCallister is a very good cover corner, and he'll be matched up on Harrison, which means Manning will look Wayne's way more often. I'll hesitate before starting a QB or RB against a stud defense, but you really have to look at the quality of their cover guys before you consider benching WRs.

As a 49er fan I love to see someone with confindence in my boys. I hope you win your game. Actually because you drafted Rattay I hope you win your league.

Starting Kevin Jones and Julius Jones in a 10-teamer, benching Tiki Barber and Curtis Martin. I have ridiculous depth at RB in one particular new league I am in this year (they'd never seen a RB/RB/RB/RB draft strategy before), so I'm gonna be trying to figure out which two of four guys are gonna be going off on a weekly basis. Both Tiki and CuMar are tempting this week, but I think I'm gonna run with Jones-Squared and see how it shakes out...... :football:

I would start Wayne over TJ too, but are you saying that McCallister is the only good secondary player on the Ravens. I think the quality of their cover guys is pretty good. But that is just me

No, I'm just saying that McCallister is one of the best in the league. I think the Indy WRs tend to be a lot more matchup dependent than other WR corps, because Peyton Manning has demonstrated that he's capable of running through lots of reads on a single play and selecting the best matchup. I think Harrison will have enough trouble getting open against McCallister that Manning will be looking Wayne's way a lot more in this game than he would against other quality defenses, such as Pittsburgh, that lack a true stud CB1.Edit: He went 8 receptions for 88 yards against Ballymore last season. I think that's a very encouraging sign, since I feel like WR TDs tend to be pretty unpredictable. I consider anything over 80 yards from my WRs to be a very solid afternoon.

As I read these posts, I realize how different it is for those of us who play in really deep leagues. I am in a 16 team league that starts 4 WRs and WR rec yards are 1/5 instead of 1/10 on rush and RB rec yards (also ppr). You also get 1/20 for return yards.

I am debating between Dante Hall, Reche Caldwell, or Brandon Jones.

All of the options are bad, but it is fun to have to decide between these guys and when they blow up, it is so much fun.
Same size league, same lineup, different scoring.I have to choose 2 (for my 3 and 4 spot) between Rod Smith, Keyshawn, Braylon Edwards, ARE and M Jones.

Right now I'm leaning Rod and Keyshawn, but starting ARE vs. Tennessee over Rod vs. Miami is tempting.

Good point, but with Rolle in town, would it be better to start Stokely?Different league, Right now he's on the bench, due to injury, but is he at 100% yet?

I'm currently starting Toomer, ARE and M-Rob in that league, but if I see he's doing well, he'll get in over M-Rob.

My problem is that i'm not that familiar with the individual defensive corners on each team. However, I am aware of overall team defenses. I realize that the strategy's we all use in fantasy football is not an exact science, However I usually don't start players against what I think or are the top few defenses in the league. This year, those teams in my opinion are : Baltimore, Buffalo, Carolina and Atlanta, Washington & Chicago. I guess I try to play match-ups against who I think the overall weakest defense teams are because as a unit they can be exploited at one position which will open up things for the entire opposing offenses. I don't know !

FWIW, I agree to an extent. I won't be playing too many WRs against Washington or Chicago. Top defenses + terrible offense = bad FF day for the opponent IMO.

As my 3rd starting WR I am deciding between E. Kennison vs. NYJ, Jimmy Smith vs. SEA, and Keyshawn vs. SDRight now I am leaning towards Kennison.

Farve @ Det - Can Farve still perform? Games not at GB and it's indoors!!! But it's Det D!!overCollins @ NE - Is Collins upside good enough vs. NE D??Ugghhhhhh

Sorry to tell you this, but I didn't draft Rattay. He's on the WW. But he's looking better than Carr right now, who I may drop.

We start 2 RBs, with no flex positions.I have Edge, Portis, Barlow, and Parker.Portis, to me, is the no-brainer start: last year at Chicago, Portis carried the brick 36 times for 171 yards (but only one reception for 11 yards).Barlow is bench warmer this week---another no brainer. However, my dillema is between starting Edge vs. Parker. Edge is the proven stud, but this might be the week to consider matchups more than reputation. I don't expect Edge to do much better than his 22-67 against the Ravens from last year. However, Parker could have a monster day...but probably won't do worse than 67 yards. (I'm obviously leaning towards Parker at this point).

While I'm going to start Manning, my toughest decision is most likely sitting Delhomme vs. NO. I just have a feeling that he's going to have a solid game vs the Saints.

RB's are K. Jones, D. Davis, J. Jones, and K. BarlowBarlow has the best match-up, Davis has the worst. Leaving Davis out (on the road vs. tough Buf D), K. Jones and Barlow are at home, J. Jones is on the road in S.D. If I like Barlow's match-up, that leaves the Jones's. Kevin or Julius? Leaning Kevin simply because of home field, G.B. and S.D. seem similar as far as defenses go.K. Jones and K. Barlow week 1

I will be starting one of the 3 following WRs along with HoltKennisonFitzgeraldS.MossReally need help with this one.

Got the Mike Anderson vs miami/ Dominick Davis (sp)vs buffalo debate here. Leaning towards Anderson just dont know if i can pull the trigger on it. The next biggest thing is picking 2 outta Burleson, A.Johnson, Roy Williams, and antonio Bryant. All this and i basically have to have everything figured out tonight cause my wife is gonna be induced tomorrow morning (our 2nd son) so my week 1 is cut reall short.

My tough decision is starting Chad Johnson vs. CLE over Clinton Portis vs. CHI in a TD only league. Tough, tough call, but when you have people like LT, Moss, Owens, Holt also starting....................
............you are probably playing in a 6 MAN LEAGUE. What? Isn't that what the .......'s were about? :P

My toughest decision week 1 will be at LB -I will be starting Ray Lewis every week, but I also have to choose bewteen Courtney Watson, Dan Morgan, Odell Thurman, and Nick Barnett for my LB2 and flex positions.I decided to go with Morgan because he isn't injured yet and Nick Barnett. I think I will wait and see who emerges between Thurman and Watson as a better play for future weeks. On offense, I am torn bewteen Isaac Bruce and Travis Taylor...but I went with Bruce, Horn and Ward as my starters and we'll wait and see if Taylor takes on a big role in Minnesota before i put him in the lineup.

Mike Anderson (10th round pick, 111th overall two weeks ago) over Dom Davis (1st round pick, 10th overall).

C. Brown v. Barlow at the Flex....Branch, Wayne, or DJax at WR2....Leaning toward Barlow and DJax.

Will (probably) start Jimmy Smith vs Sea bover Lee Evans vs Hou.I am not considering benching Edge for Barlow.

Debating who to start at last IDP flex spot:Julian Peterson or Antonio Pierce (initially had JP slated to be the starter). Also contemplating starting either Griese or Warner over Brooks (but probably won't).

Seriously thinking of sitting Portis vs. Chicago in favor of FAST Willie Parker vs. Tenn.Probably the only week I can think about inserting Parker in my lineup unless he emerges as Priest II.

Thinking of sitting Portis for CMart. I also have McGahee.

I think I'm sitting KJ for Dillon and Barber. Tough call there.I'm sitting AJ for D-Jax and TO. This one's not so tough. I want Carr to prove to me that he can get AJ the ball before he gets the nod.

Unsure as to who's my RB2 this weekFoster vs NO ... this was a no brainer till S.Davis re-emergedDunn vs Phil ... Dunn has had a good pre-season but that Eagles D is tough, might be lots of Duckett to soften em up
