Not with Reggie Bush there imo.I see Davone Bess being a PPR machine
Amendola also arguably broke out last year. In PPR 83 catches on 119 targets.....will he ever even do that again? Especially with the glut of WR's they have now?Maclin and Britt broke out last year. If I'm estimating a breakout I'm looking for guys who have not shown me anything. Avery is a good one. Jordan Shipley is another one.
I think most people are thinking that right nowI think Dez may have a Nicks kind of year this year.
St. Louis is crowded with a lot of similar talent on paper at WR, but Sims-Walker has the most physical ability even if he's frail. Clayton looked solid in limited action too.I think Bradford has an outside shot at a top 12 season.I am wondering who people think the 2011 breakout WR's will be. I can start with a few names. I like J. Maclin, K. Britt, D. Avery or D. Amendola (one of the St. Louis receivers is gonna be good), possibly M. Thomas. What are other peoples thoughts?

However, head coach Steve Spagnuolo said on 7/31/11 that the knee is not ready after a patellar tendon tear. Clayton remains unsigned.
I'm not sure how you can call him this years Mike Williams... Williams was drafted in the 4th round and was widely ranked 5-10 among rookie WR last year. Julio Jones was easily the #2 WR and drafted top 10 this year. Do you really think that's an effective comparison?Anyways... I consider Jacoby Ford, Donnie Avery and Andre Roberts legitimate sleepers although Roberts may lose value if the Cards sign another WR to fill Breaston's spot.I'd say Julio Jones has a good chance. With Roddy taking the majority of the focus I think he could be this years Mike Williams. Interestingly enough, I also think A. Benn could have a breakout year. Color me skeptical about Meacham. He's one of those low-reception, long-yardage gambles that can go games without getting more than a catch. Look at last year. He has skills, no doubt, but I don't see it.
the problem with Roberts "breaking out" is that he sucks...which is why the Cards are scrambling for another WR.I'm not sure how you can call him this years Mike Williams... A second year receiver sucks? When was he given a legitimate opportunity to succeed? He undoubtedly showed flashes of being a solid receiver last year and that was with the major question mark at QB. I think you're jumping the gun on writing him off. I guess we can agree to disagree.the problem with Roberts "breaking out" is that he sucks...which is why the Cards are scrambling for another WR.
Based on what I've seen he'll never be more than a #3 WR.A second year receiver sucks? When was he given a legitimate opportunity to succeed? Welp 3 other people in this thread seem to disagree and I'm sure there are quite a few more looking at him with intrigue. I'm on board with Harvin and Manningham, but Jerome Simpson is the second best WR on a team with a terrible starting QB as of now...he's going to need some help to have a breakout season.Percy Harvin - Should be the #1 with a QB that will feed him.Jerome Simpson - With all the Green hype I feel Simpson is being a bit underrated.Mario Manningham - With Smith being gimpy & not sure where he is playing, I don't think Mario is getting the hype he deserves.
Right now Green is a promising prospect, Simpson has actually shown he can play in the NFL.I'm on board with Harvin and Manningham, but Jerome Simpson is the second best WR on a team with a terrible starting QB as of now...he's going to need some help to have a breakout season.Percy Harvin - Should be the #1 with a QB that will feed him.Jerome Simpson - With all the Green hype I feel Simpson is being a bit underrated.Mario Manningham - With Smith being gimpy & not sure where he is playing, I don't think Mario is getting the hype he deserves.
I'm on the Green bandwagon, my opinion is that he was/is NFL ready.Right now Green is a promising prospect, Simpson has actually shown he can play in the NFL.I'm on board with Harvin and Manningham, but Jerome Simpson is the second best WR on a team with a terrible starting QB as of now...he's going to need some help to have a breakout season.Percy Harvin - Should be the #1 with a QB that will feed him.Jerome Simpson - With all the Green hype I feel Simpson is being a bit underrated.Mario Manningham - With Smith being gimpy & not sure where he is playing, I don't think Mario is getting the hype he deserves.
Mike Williams was well known to have a first or second round draft grade as far as the intangables of the game goes. The only reason he wasn't drafted higher was because of his off the field antics (sitting out a season being a huge one). I meant the Williams of this year as in put up similiar numbers in his first year. I'd put Julio down in the area of 1000 yds and 7-10 TDs. Just because someone makes a comparison to another player it doesn't mean they have to match up in every respect. That would be impossible. I should have made my connection between the two clearer.I'm not sure how you can call him this years Mike Williams... I like his chances of doing something this year. Could be McNabb's Anthony Armstrong this year. The Michael Jenkins signing doesn't turn me off as much as a Braylon or Floyd would have3) Devin Aromashodo (speed & desire, Cutler had him play 1st game last yr mult targets but dropped pass's, McNabb should like seeing an open WR)
I think Breaston puts the breaks on Baldwin making an impact like that year one. That potential is there though if he's on the field consistently. One sleeper I like that hasn't been mentioned yet here is Dezmon Briscoe. Even if Benn is ready for the start of the season I think he can be a matchup nightmare 3rd WR like Chris Henry was his 2nd year.4) Jon Baldwin (could be room for two 1,000 yd WR's, Coach has been behind a 5,000 yd QB in the past)
The term sleeper can mean different things based on your audience. Chicago provoked by Cutler, gave Devin a shot to produce, but he dropped a ball early on that I believe changed his direction. (maybe 8 targets in the first game of Season, followed by barely nothing the entire Season) IF Cutler deems a player worthy to play WR, Im not calling the player a sleeper, nor w/o value based on one game. I imagine that your thoughts on Breaston is based on previous performance (Im also aware that Boldin had 800 yds in Balt) Breaston is proably favored to land the WR2 role, although Im not sure that Jon achieving WR1 status would be totally shocking. (Bowe has disappointed in the past, Im not sure if your aware of what disappoiment can lead too, in KC) The most ironic thing is that Danario is probably believed to be a true break-out candidate, but I sadly read that some sports writer believes he may still be dragging/favoring his leg. I have also read that Danario is taking 1st teams snaps and is expected to be the starter. (Variety of WR's could lead to value as seen in NO)Brown (SD) maybe doesnt really belong on this page: Too many reasons for nothing, other thn Rivers as QB p.s. I own both Danario and Breaston (my Sig is slightly out of date though) so maybe its not an impartial view w/ solid facts.I like his chances of doing something this year. Nice to see you Eastwood (enjoyed quite a few of your posts in past)Can you expound on some of these picks, mainly Cobb really. I mean Driver still catchin the ball, most people like Jones too. I also would imagine Im not only guy impressed by Nelson (disappointed to a degree in all honesty, almost shocked by his playoff perf.)FordGettisLittleBenn SandersCobb
I stashed Robiskie too.. track speed.. came out of OSU young and undersized.. You cant teach speed.. but i dont think mccoys arm is strong enought to utilize it... and then they drafted little.. D'OH!!Julio JonesJared Cook - Check down Hassleback releases the inner Finley in Cook...Josh Morganone of the recievers in Washington?I had this guy as my sleeper last year (and he did nothing), but I am going to throw him out there again...Brian Robiskie. McCoy has a year under his belt, and while they did add Little, Massaquoi seems to have some type of injury (just remembering a post here) and they don't really have anything else in the cupboard. Teams are going to be wise to their running, so they will be forced to air it a little more.Ah...who am I kidding?
I doubt Blair White plays much this year since Anthony Gonzalez is healthy. Not to mention Austin Collie.Jordan Shipley, Blair White, Emmanuel Sanders.
And how long do we expect those two things to last?I doubt Blair White plays much this year since Anthony Gonzalez is healthy. Not to mention Austin Collie.Jordan Shipley, Blair White, Emmanuel Sanders.
Can Gonzo and Collie put a full season together?? if Blair White learns the different reciever positions he could be on the field a lot...I doubt Blair White plays much this year since Anthony Gonzalez is healthy. Not to mention Austin Collie.Jordan Shipley, Blair White, Emmanuel Sanders.
One thing I learned a long time ago is not to predict injuries unless there is some degenerative thing going on.And how long do we expect those two things to last?I doubt Blair White plays much this year since Anthony Gonzalez is healthy.
