I was going to say the same thing.Usually when star players complain publicly about not getting the ball, they get the ball. A lot.Greg Jennings. A top talent in the league that has yet to get going. He's coming out of the bye, has a chip on his shoulder, an upgrade (I think) on the O line, and plays the Lions.
Donnie Avery sucks.

I Agree, why would he not score against his horrible ex-team!Not to mention since MSW made a tail gettin mistake, that they try to get Torry one in the Red Zone at all costs!Thanatos said:I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Torry Holt step up against his former team this weekend. Bet he plays with alot of pride and makes it a priority to hang at least one score on them.
Interesting. I picked up Bryant Johnson for the same reason. Northcutt seems like a safe bet for 4-6 catches, but Johnson could surprise with some nice numbers and at least one score (7-85-1).Dennis Northcutt in PPR leagues if Calvin sits as expected.
Probably...since Im benching his behind this week.Im going with....Ryan Grant. Kind of a homer pick...but I think GB wants to take more pressure off of the QB. They started getting GRant the ball on screens and draws agaisnt Minny and they know they need to slow down the pass rush. And no better time to get an RB going than playing against Detroit this week.cheese said:Put me down for Caddy Williams.I say his highest total yardage day of the season and at least 1 score.
The concerns I have about Holt are Sims-Walker's return (Holt's numbers haven't been great with Sims-Walker in the starting lineup) and the possibility MJD runs all over the Rams and takes all the scores from the passing game.I Agree, why would he not score against his horrible ex-team!Thanatos said:I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Torry Holt step up against his former team this weekend. I think Johnson has more upside but Culpepper really locked in on Northcutt last week after Calvin went out. Northcutt's a solid guy who runs good routes and has good hands. I could see Johnson hitting a home run play with Northcutt ending up with more receptions. That's why I put him down primarily for PPR league owners.Interesting. Felt so strong about this LAST week. Gonna have to keep him on the bench until he starts producing.I think Leon Washington finally breaks a long one this week. He's due!
You are probably right about Walter - because I am benching him for Burleson.3 players I think will have "breakout" weeks are:
Kevin Walter (100 yards and 1-2 TD's)
Brian Westbrook (truly hope I'm wrong on this as I play against him; 1 long TD and 2 TD's total)
Steven Jackson (180 total yards and 2 TD's)
Hopefully, but I think its Driver. I read somewhere, but dont have time to find link, that GB is working this week on short quick passes to try to keep Rodgers numbers from being permanantly inbedded in the turf. If this is true, then I see more Driver on short crossing patterns and quick outs than Jennings on the long ball.zamboni said:I was going to say the same thing.Usually when star players complain publicly about not getting the ball, they get the ball. Does this ever actually happen? It seems like a myth to me.Thanatos said:I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Torry Holt step up against his former team this weekend. Bet he plays with alot of pride and makes it a priority to hang at least one score on them.

Mike Bell ... just a hunch.Reggie Bush, 2 TDs, well over 100 yards offense.

I like this one. He got a decent amount of looks last week with Cotchery playing sparingly. If Cotchery is out this week, he could be the week 6 breakout WR. I think Braylon will get a lot of defensive attention, leaving the WR2 in man coverage often - and Clowney can fly. At least he can in preseason games.I've got a sneaking suspicion Clowney will have a big game with Cotchery and Brad Smith hurting.
In recent memory, Culpepper two years ago, Raiders vs Dolphins. 2 passing TDs and 3 rushing TDs.I certainly don't think it happens more often than "breakouts" against non-former teams, so it is more myth than trend.I would hope that if you're a starter in the NFL, you put forth your best effort no matter who you are playing. I'm sure that's not true for everyone though.Does this ever actually happen? You don't see Manningham cutting into his touches?I'm trying to decide between Nicks, Manningham and Avery for the week with Calvin out.cubbie5150 said:I agree on Nicks...I think he'll have a huge game.
I don't see Culpepper's performance against those Dolphins as anything extraordinary. They were absolutely awful that year. It wasn't as if he was demolishing a decent team. He was playing hard because that's what he was paid to do. He had similar games with the Vikings and they were not vendetta games. Sorry, but that is not true. I am a Dolphin fan and Daunte even came out after the game and said it meant more to him. He said he was really hopeful to show them how good he was. He even over-celebrated on a TD and got a penalty, iirc.I don't see Culpepper's performance against those Dolphins as anything extraordinary. They were absolutely awful that year. Sure it was.He was playing on the RAIDERS and had 5 TDs in one game. That's almost enough to make me believe in a higher power.I don't see Culpepper's performance against those Dolphins as anything extraordinary.
I've read that they are trying to get Olsen the ball more. I think he's going to get moving here and we've seen glimpses. I don't think Cutler has the weapons he had in Denver, but he's got a poor man's Royal in Knox and a Scheffler type TE in Olsen so I think he'll be fine here on out.Any thoughts on the Bears attack after the bye week. Night game, Cutler's second half starts this week and they need to keep pace with a red-hot vikings team. Been awful quiet up there as well. Bennett, Knox, Hestser, Olsen, Forte?
I think that's pretty much how these threads go...but I personally name guys NOT on my roster. I agreed w/ the OP's Nicks suggestion, and I do not own him. In fact, it pains me to think Nicks will explode since I own Steve Smith (NYG)Is this the thread where eveeryone names an under-performing player or two off their own team that they hope will blow up?Ok... Randy Moss & LT
LOL WUT?I'm going with a healthier Avery as my breakout candidate this week.Wow, real bold predictions here.
I will say Keenan Burton. Donnie Avery sucks. The Jags pass defense is awful. I think with Bulger back, the passing game will be a bit better. And Burton has had plenty of opportunities in the passing game, but Boller couldn't get him the ball.
