who did you root for in past super bowls? (1 Viewer)

I guess I always take a rooting interest. Here's mine.

Patriots vs Eagles - The Browns were 3-3 in 2004, then lost to the Eagles, and that seemed to be the end for my Browns. So I wanted the Patriots to whip them.

Patriots vs Panthers - I was looking forward to a Patriots - Eagles super bowl so I was for the Patriots in that one.

Buccaneers vs Raiders - I rooted for the Raiders. I prefer offensive clubs and the Raiders had more offense.

Patriots vs Rams - I wanted the Rams to win because otherwise it meant my Browns had a super bowl coach and let him get away. Ugh.

Ravens vs Giants - I really rooted for RAVENS of all things. May seem strange, but by this time we had the Browns back, so the move wasn't such a big deal for me. I had moved on. I am, however, sick of seeing the city of New York win so many titles in various sports.

Rams vs Titans - Wanted the Rams to win. I also hated the Titans since they spoiled what would have been an epic super bowl between what then looked like two juggernauts in the Rams and Jaguars.

Broncos vs Falcons - Wanted the Broncos to win, since the Falcons ruined what would have been an pretty interesting super bowl between the Broncos and Vikings.

Being a Lions fan, I find myself having to root for someone else EVERY year. Last year I'd say the Pats. The year before either team, I just wanted a good game, and I got it. The year before that, I just wanted a good game there too. In 2001, I wanted the Pats, though I thought the Rams were the better team. In 2000, I'd say the Giants. I was SO tired of the hoopla over Ray Lewis and that defense, that it made me root for the other team. And well, they got spanked, and was one of the most boring Super Bowls (unless you're a Ravens fan, of course).

2005 - New England, don't think that we will see another run like this for 25 years.

2004 - Carolina, great story.

2003 - Oakland, Dungy fan who didn't want someone else to get the credit for his work.

2002 - New England, good team playing well together.

2001 - Giants, too many thugs on Baltimore.

2000 - Titans, Big Edddie George fan.

1999 - Falcons, the dirty bird!

05- NE (hate Philly)

04 - NE (not a big Carolina fan either)

03 - TB obviously

02 - NE (wanted the underdog, and again, hate the Rams. :lmao: )

01 - Bal (rooted for Dilfer)

00 - Ten (thought the Bucs were the better team than the Rams, really disliked that team)

99 - Denver

98 - Denver (wanted to see Elway get one)

Before that, I did want Pitt to beat Dallas and for Buffalo to win one, but other than that I don't remember really caring.

Being a Lions fan, I find myself having to root for someone else EVERY year.
:goodposting:

Patriots vs Eagles - I wanted a good game, but Tom Brady to win.

Patriots vs Panthers - I wanted a good game, but Tom Brady to win.

Buccaneers vs Raiders - My first born son was born during the Tennessee playoff game, and the first thing I remember besides taking care of him and my wife was the Bucs beating the snot out of San Fran, plus who likes the Raiders?

Patriots vs Rams - I wanted a good game, but Tom Brady to win.

Ravens vs Giants - Too drunk to care

Rams vs Titans - Titans! But I really just wanted to get drunk and watch a good game

Broncos vs Falcons - I really didn't care, just wanted to get drunk and watch a good game

I have always been an NFC guy. The exceptions would be when I rooted for the Pats (just liked the way they had/have the whole "team" concept down) and the Titans, because I wanted to see a good game and liked a few of their players.

My alliances are:

Giants >> Steelers >>>>>>> almost all other teams >>>>> whoever Dan Reeves is coaching >>>>> Cowboys.

So I either root for the first two, hope for a good game, or root against the last two.
