Who else is getting sick of having Mark Clayon on their roster? (1 Viewer)

26 man roster dynasty and I can't bring myself to drop him. Balt is now talking about bringing in someone who can stretch the field. I know he's got some talent, but he needs to show it soon. Everyone wants to talk about the QB situation in Balt, or the scheme, but let's face it, something isn't right with this guy.

When's his contract up?

I think he could do okay as a WR2 on a good team, but the Ravens have been the Derrick Mason show ever since he signed with them and they don't throw enough to sustain two good FF WRs.

I enjoyed playing vs. him last week, w/ only him left to threaten my 20 point lead going into MNF :lmao:

Seriously though, Flacco has blinders for Mason. I don't think he has any other progressions - it's either Mason or take the sack. Clayton's role in the offense is one or two reverses a week.

It's tough *esp. dynasty wise* to judge Clayton this season w/ a rookie QB and a new system. I'd probably dump him and grab one of the rookie WRs in a better situation, even if they're not getting PT yet. (i.e. J Simpson, E Doucett, E Bennett, Hawkins). A couple weeks ago, I dropped DJax and D Jarrett for L Moore and K Lumpkin in a similar size league. Sometimes it's just time to cut bait.

Bought into the "top 30 WR, bank it" talk by some around here and drafted him really late. I dropped him week 2, just don't see it panning out in Baltimore.

I desperately wish I hadn't drafted him. Seemingly too talented to cut, not good enough to trade. All he does is sit there on my roster and laugh at me.

I'd hold him in dynasty. As others said, if he ends up on a good team with a solid #1WR he could post very good WR2 stats.

But when it comes to the Balt passing game in re-draft, as much as I hate to resort to floccinaucinihilipilification, anyone outside of Mason is worthless.

The guy has talent. You can't just cut him. Flacco is the reason for his poor production. As he gets better I believe Clayton's #'s will get better. I'd rather see him go to another team once his contract is up.

This is the third year he's been on my dynasty roster. Every offseason I give him the benefit of the doubt.

At this point I don't know who to blame as I can no longer blame Billick.

He does spend a lot of time dinged up and seemingly not at 100%. But at some point, you have to realize that him being dinged up and not very productive is his 100%.

The problem is, I have him signed so cheap, I wouldn't get much back if I cut him and I'm not sure who I'd sign now in his spot.

If you see how deep our rosters are, you'll see what I mean.

Call me crazy, but if Troy Smith can somehow find his way onto the field, he'll find Mark Clayton I can assure you.

Troy Smith is dressing this week, but yet to be determined if he'll be no. 2 or no. 3 this week.

I still think his day will come, nonetheless. Smith, that is, and when he does Clayton will finally offer something for the box score.

He makes Matt Jones look like a supehero. "nuff said"

Per KFFL, Mason has 26 plays, Clayton 13, and Williams 9. Though to be fair, in week 4 it was Mason 14, Clayton 4, Williams 3, which means prior to that it was Mason 12, Clayton 9, Williams 6, which is a bit closer. Last week was simply insane; I swear Flacco didn't even realize he had more than one receiver on the field at a time.

This is a tough one.

Clayton had the 2nd-most targets last week, but it was only four. The good news is that one was a deep throw and two others were in the end zone (IIRC, he lost a TD due to a penalty).

That said, you can't rely on him much right now. Long term? In Dynasty you have to consider keeping him as Flacco matures. Clayton was a bigtime target in the preseason for him, I really don't know what's happened since then for that offense. As for his contract, he comes cheap (under $1M) in 08 and 09 and then is a free agent. Mason's also signed through 09 but at a bigger pricetag.

As Flacco matures, someone will have to step up and contribute. Demetrius Williams may become a bigger factor if these guys don't get rolling next year.

I think you are right, sir. :Golf clap: for reminding us of Troy's return. I think for sure he's going to start some games and that will definitely create an opportunity for Clayton.
