Who else plays a week 17 Championship? (1 Viewer)

yup and it stinks.. Local league that has been around since the early 90's. Always has been on last week of the season. There is a movement afoot for change but there some folks resisting......

Week 17 championship games are rough. We did it that way 1 year and immediately reverted back to week 16. This league is a total points league with H2H playoffs that end in week 16. So week 17 means something as it is the last week for overall points, but our playoff champ is already crowned (25% of the pot to the playoff winner, 75% and league trophy to the overall points winner). I like this league better than my other H2H only league. Week 17 means something, but at least it doesn't decide the winner on its own. Its pretty rough when guys like Peyton Manning are almost must sits and you have to weigh other options over LT2.

We have a week 17 championship, has been that way for 10 years. There are always complaints about it but in the end, its a week of football so why not play for it? You know its coming, you know there will be roster challenges, so deal with it. Affects 2 teams. why shorten the season?

My main league has always had a week 17 championship game, this is our 12th season.

A couple of guys don’t like it but the majority of league is like “hey there football being played we have enough roster spaces (20) and it adds yet another challenge”

This is my 1st season in my work league, they do a two week championship. Combine the scores from week 16 and 17.

4 leagues over at ESPN. They all have a Combined Week 16 & 17 for the Championship.

Been that way since 1996 and I like it.

Oh yeah! Bring it on! In the big game for the first time since losing it a couple-few back.

I may be starting Jesse Chatman!

Bring it on!

One of the leagues I am in has playoffs the last 4 weeks of the season (Weeks 14-17). The games last two weeks each, so the 1 and 4 teams and the 2 and 3 teams face off with cumulative scoring for the whole two weeks. Then the winners advance to a two week final round in Weeks 16 and 17.

I for one am thankful for this scoring system because my team was decimated with injuries and I am starting virtually an entire team of waiver wire players and have been doing so since Week 14 due to injuries.

couldn't agree more. Depth is the key. And while there are a few teams where guys will sit, most of those guys aren't in the finals. The two teams that are in our finals Have Romo, Brady, and Moss, but the rest of the guys are all playing meaningful games. It does affect the finals to an extent, but it's not so bad that you can't have an exciting matchup week 17. FF is all about luck, you just need a little more luck week 17.

I am missing Romo/TO- and I'm debating on whether Michael Turner is a good play over Chris Brown.

I always hated not having anything going on it week 17. So a couple of years I came up with a great idea to keep people a little interested after everything was done. We hold a Pro Bowl on week 17. Whoever wins the East and the West during the regular season gets to trot out a full lineup of players that are on teams from that division. It's fun... easy to do. Everyone likes it. It's very laid back like a Pro Bowl is. If a guy plays a quarter and scores 2 points then so be it. At least we don't have a whole season of work coming down to studs getting benched. Whatever players take you to the dance should be the guys dancing.

Week 17 Pro Bowl... give it a try.

We got rid of it two years ago and have been very happy ever since. There's nothing worse than getting to the superbowl and having half a dozen guys start that haven't made a start for either squad all year.
